Re: Games on consecutive days
Dundee United and Berwick Rangers drew 1-1 at Tannadice in the Scottish Cup on Tuesday 4th February 1975, with United winning the replay 1-0 at Shielfield the following evening. My favourite thing about this tie is that Berwick actually managed to produce a full match programme for the replay, a com...

I love reading you get your teeth in to stuff like this David, because you back everything up with factual knowledge and analysis - even in a "what if" piece like this. Magic!

Re: 1965 May 19th Wednesday, Dundee United v Aberdeen
The United side was:
Donald Mackay, Tommy Millar, Jimmy Briggs, Francis Munro, Doug Smith, Tommy Neilson, Mogens Berg, Dennis Gillespie, Finn Døssing, Ian Mitchell, Lewis Thom.
United won 3-0 with Døssing (2) and Berg the scorers. Don't have the Aberdeen line-up, sorry.

Re: HALF TIME SCOREBOARDS
I believe Tannadice may have had the last remaining old-time scoreboard, it was still in use during the 1991-92 season, up until the ground started to be converted to all-seated. I think the board were worried about the effect on programme sales if the switched to this new-fangled idea of reading th...

Re: John Houston's "cap"?
Ah, excellent. That would presumably mean the "under-21 international" against England refers to a juvenile fixture, which makes sense. I see this game was an annual event in the late 40s; anyone know which year(s) Houston was capped, if so?

John Houston's "cap"?
This is an extract from The Guardian 's 2008 obituary for Scottish painter John Houston: Houston was born at Buckhaven, in the kingdom of Fife, on the north shore of the Firth of Forth. He grew up at nearby Windygates, where his father's family kept the hotel and village shop. His father himself was...

I've made a couple of changes to the Wikipedia page to remove the most obvious errors, such as the nonsense stats. Can't really add any more about Allan's playing career, but I have got some information on the previously accepted dates of his managerial tenure at Tannadice. Best place to cover that ...
