Re: Researchers Required!

Whilst I have data on all Celtic matches, I also have a note of most of the Opposition XIs that played in the games v Celtic.

If I can be of any help just let me know and all the best with the project

Re: Celtic v Borders Select - Photo - Date? Venue?

Unfortunately, I never met him either although I did speak with him on the phone. He was always very helpful and after he passed away I was fortunate to be given a copy of his Celtic files by another Celtic Historian, Tom Campbell. These files have been very useful for adding to my data on Celtic Mi...

Direct Free Kicks

Penalty kicks were introduced in 1891 but were direct free kicks allowed as part of the original rules or were they introduced at a later stage like penalties?

Re: The errors of Andrew Smith

I'm sure I've mentioned on here before but I now take little notice of what is publically stated as being an accurate attendance. However, in relation to the article that suggests attendances from pre-1998 were always accurate is quite simply a load of bollocks. Strangely enough the running joke abo...

Re: Airdrie Charity Cup - 1890

If you have a subscription, the Motherwell Times is available in the BNA. Though I don't know exactly which years they have so far. 1890 is missing from their archive but I have confirmed that it is held at the Motherwell Heritage Library so will check it there possibly later this week as I have to...

Re: Airdrie Charity Cup - 1890

Guys, a mistake right enough! The matches were played in May not October, over five successive Saturdays at the end of the season. Put that mistake down to the after-effects of the mighty 'Onians return!! Did you find any newspaper reports on the matches? I'm going to check the Motherwell Times at ...

Airdrie Charity Cup - 1890

For season 1889/90, Carfin Shamrock are shown as the winners: http://scottish-football-historical-archive.com/airdriecharitycup The only detail shown is that Carfin Shamrock drew 2-2 with Airdrie on the 17th May 1890. Unfortunately, there no issues of the Motherwell Times for 1890 on the British New...
