Re: Played at all 42 current SPL/SFL grounds?

Somewhere in the back of my braincells I remember former Clydebank player Joe McCallan playing at all 38 (then) League grounds and all 16 (then) Highland League grounds some time in the mid nineteen eighties. In England I think Trevor Hockey was the youngest player to have played at all 92 clubs.

WTF ( W for Why ?) would we arrange a game like this in London, how many schoolboys will attend the game ? Re: Gateshead FC & the Scottish League

Just looking through my programme collection and the editorial notes in the Alloa Ath. V Gateshead Friendly match from the 7th January 1961 states " A determined lot these Gateshead lads. After failing to have their team re-elected to the English Fourth Division at the end of last season, the G...

Re: League reconstruction

My preference is for a 16 club Premier League and a return to the group stages of a Premier League Cup. Gates for cup ties , (Scottish & League Cup ),has been very disapointing since the advent of the season ticket culture, so 3 home League Cup ties on your season ticket should increase gates. I...

Football Programmes

Ive just read an interesting article on the rise of E-book sales and bookshops plans to counter this development and not miss out on sales as record shops have, with the downloading of music. It got me thinking of the future then, of a matchday programme, I couldn't possibly imagine getting the same...

Ashfield V Glenafton Scottish Junior Cup

Would anyone have the date of this match and what round it was. The score was possibly 2-1 to Glenafton and was around 1964 or 1965.

Kilmarnock V Western League X1

Ive got it in my records as Monday 6th March 1961 and not the 8th . Result was Kilmarnock Res. 5 Western League select 1. IIRC my 1961 records I got from the Daily Record at either the Mitchell or Collingwood library's so the date should come from the day before the newspapers edition. On the 8th a ...

International Fees

Iirc at one time the International Football Board set the fees for appearing for your country in the 1960s the fee was 60 quid ( sorry dont have a pound sterling icon on a kiwi computer ) and around 1970/71 season it was raised to 100 quid much to Northern Ireland and Wales's dismay as they argued t...

I reckon your crowd guestimate about right, biggest crowd I was at at ER was the 1973 Scottish Cup replay with Rangers around the 50000 mark which during a British Rail strike was an amazing figure. looking at that massive terracing again makes one nostalgic , especially in the week Hibs announce th...
