Re: World War One and Scottish Football book

I've just got my hands on a copy of this; it's an excellent book and a mine of information, with every lineup from every league game. Congratulations, Alan

Re: Massie, Bedminster 1898

I've got a note that William Massie was playing for Ayr Thistle in 1898-9. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a first name (or even an initial) for the Bedminster man so far.

Re: Hereford Thistle FC

I can't shed any light on the origin of the Thistle name, but coincidentally an 1897 Hereford Thistle v Wolves programme has been put on sale on Ebay today - it will only cost you £9999.99

Re: James Henry Logan - Raith Rovers

I think you're details are correct up to Dundee Hibs - I then have him as joining Falkirk (no apps) and was with St Bernards in 19/20. The Hamilton, etc player was a different man - born Motherwell 29.6.1890, died Girvan 3.9.1958. Before Hamilton he played for Larkhall Hearts, Glenview, Third Lanark...

I tried emailing the club to ask about getting a copy by post, but haven't received a reply. However there are copies available on Ebay - the postage cost is £1.99

Re: James Clarkson Rae

I'm not sure of his first name, either, but he played 21 games for Sunderland Albion in the Football Alliance in 1890-1

Re: William Williamson

He didn't play in the Southern League 1st division, so must have been at a lower level if he crossed the border.

Re: Jackie Jones

The Third Lanark man was born in Gourock c1966 and died in Inverclyde 11 March 1999; however my records show him at Morton & Stranraer after the war, I don't have him as being the Cowdenbeath man
