Alexander Wood

Hi, I'm a Brentford historian after some information on Alexander Wood.

He played for Airdrieonians in 1926-27 after signing from Greenock Overton. What newspapers would be best to research these two teams in that era? Thank you in advance.

Re: Ibrox disaster match - Now Official!

I can't agree. It was declared unofficial soon after and of course the fixture was replayed. These games belong in the same category as, say, the three Football League matches played by clubs in the 1939-1940 season. But it is the remit of FIFA to decide which is and which is not an official FIFA i...

Yes, this was our game v Wimbledon in 1983-1984 season. It was eventually moved to the 24th December.

Re: Rangers 300th European match?

Does these totals for clubs include Anglo-French Friendship games in the early 1960s?

Re: Online Archive

I would strongly urge that sufficient time is taken to achieve a high level of accuracy on this project rather than rush into it and try to complete the data in the quickest possible time. I have been researching newspapers for line-ups, etc for over 30 years and can assure you that its not just a ...

All about opinions I guess but I personally wouldn't credit Forfar in this case or any other loaning club. When Jamie MacDonald played for Scotland's u21's whilst on loan to us he was listed by the SFA as representing Hearts. Agreed. It has to be the parent club as they hold his registration. In te...

The Rothmans annuals for 1991/2 and 1992/3 have Christopher M Dickson listed as a Brentford trainee, but with no other information. He seems to have left before the 1993/4 edition was published Thanks Steve. He was a trainee between 1990 and 1992 but apparently was a Scottish youth international, w...
