Hard to say really but the report seems fairly unequvocable on St.Andrews being an "Edinburgh" team but I have no record of a club of that name in the city at that time so perhaps their stay on the World stage was brief - the single Cup tie only? There are some notes in the Hearts v Airdrie programme of Oct 1950 written by George Robertson suggesting that Tom Mackenzie, whose shop in Chapel Street was Hearts headquarters in their early years, thought nets would be a good idea. The Brogan mentioned for Bolton was James Brogan who joined them from Hearts not Hibs.
He did play for Hibs but when they discovered he was not a practising Roman Catholic he was made to leave and joined Hearts.

There is a team called Preston Zingari refered to in Albert Mackie's "The Hearts" (page 82). The book is on the London Hearts website.

I also think there is reference to this team in one of the books I have read on the history of Preston North End.
