Roy Millar

This is a very vague request, so apologies for lack of concrete information.

Can anyone tell me if there was a player called Roy Millar who played in the Scottish first division around 40 years ago ? (Possibly Rangers or Celtic.)

Many thanks,
Joey.

As ever, a comprehensive answer. ... But of course in virtually all these instances the opposing team was travelling from closer to home - in some cases a lot closer... . Herein lies the crux of my question. For this year's Champion's league final BOTH clubs are (a) pretty close geographically, and ...

Long distance travel - Champions league final

Two teams who are based 210 miles apart (Chelsea and Man U.) have to travel 1550 miles to play one game - the final of the Champions league competition. (If it had been Liverpool instead of Chelsea then the teams would be 35 miles apart.) I wonder what the furthest distance travelled has been for th...

Does anyone know who the other scorers were in the semi-final replay (Clyde - Dundee). I've worked out that the score would have gone as follows:- 1st Half:- Clyde 0 - 1 Dundee (Scorer for Dundee ?) Clyde 1 - 1 Dundee (C. Bootland scoring for Clyde) 2nd Half:- Clyde 2 - 1 Dundee (Scorer for Clyde ?)...

Perhaps David could help out with the attendance. Sorry, when I was taking down the Hampden attendance figures the time factor meant I concentrated on the 'big' games. No worries, I've gotten so much more information through you guys (and gals?) than I could have ever imagined. If Charlie was indee...

There`s a "C.BOOTLAND" in the Scottish amateur Xl vs. England @ Hampden on 12th March 1938. His club is listed as "Army". He didn`t score in a 5-2 defeat. I did a google search on combinations of the above, but got nothing useful back. Would there be any more info. on this match ? Presumably this w...

Thanks for the website. No programme for 1949. I did find one for sale on another website for £300. - too expensive. I also found one had been sold within the last 2-3 years for £120. I still can't really justify it at that price. On a Clyde website I saw the list of names of all the players, and C....

A couple more questions. Firstly - how can I find out what number shirt Charlie wore on the 1949 cup final (I've watched the Pathe Clip and I reckon there's a good chance he appears somewhere in the 1 min 34 seconds.) Secondly - is there any way I can get hold of a 1949 cup final programme - and wha...

Maybe an Amateur International cap?
Could be. Thanks for the suggestion.

This is great.

Many, many thanks for all your help.

I'll contact the Herald, and also all the clubs you mentioned he played for.

Kind regards,
Joey.

This is fantastic - much more than I could have hoped for. What are your sources ?

Apparently Charlie scored twice in a Scotland England match in a POW camp. (3-1 to Scotland)

Again, thanks for your help.

Joey B.

P.S. Do you know where I might find photographs of Charlie?
