I found this in my Drafts folder. This might be what SebGevers is looking for. Not sure where I got it from. . Cheers lbb, that's a start anyway. A cursory glance at the objectives and the results would suggest there's still some work to be done. I'll hang on for an answer from the SPL before a def...

It probably also makes sense to have close ties with a feeder club or two as well. It's a cynical view, but are most of the SPL teams not feeder clubs for the Old Firm anyway? Fraser, you're right, there's no point incurring more debt. We've already had four clubs go into administration since the S...

There are Scottish players in the SPL picking up thousands of pounds a week when they can't even master the basics of the game. Tehee, that made me laugh. I've always thought that the youth system is the secret to our success in the long term, but this is a world where a quick return is preferred o...

Between 1947 and 1965 the Scottish league was at its most competitive, when 5 different teams, other than the Old Firm, won the league (Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen, Dundee and Kilmarnock). See http://insideleft.wordpress.com/2008/06/13/if-you-know-your-history-1965-and-all-that/ for more details .. What ...

10 Years of the SPL - Progress?
The 2007/2008 season was the tenth since the SPL came into existence. I'm putting together a small piece for my website to see if the SPL has met the objectives it set out when it was founded. The only problem is that I can't find out quite *why* the SPL was founded, other than for its members to re...

Ah well, took the plunge. It's an interesting enough site but as expected, the Scottish section is somewhat bare. There's no Division 1, and the other divisions dont go back farther than 1999. The SPL section ends in season 2005. The international section is quite good, all the Scotland matches goin...

"Association of Football Statisticians"
Hi, does anyone know anything about the site http://www.11v11.co.uk (the Association of Football Statisticians) ..? I'm tempted to join, but at 4.99 for a trail, it's a bit steep
Is anyone here a member and, if so, how in depth is their Scottish coverage?

120 years of the Old Firm
I note with interest that on this day in 1888, the first Old Firm game (a friendly) was played between Rangers and Celtic - a game Celtic won 5-2.
I was wondering if anyone knows what the lineups where, where the game was played and what the attendance was at that historic game.

North East Football Rivalries.
Hi, I'm putting together a few pieces about footballing rivalries in Scotland for my new site. Some of these rivalries are pretty obvious and have been discussed endlessley, but as a North East Scotland based football fan, I'm interested in the history between four of our lower league clubs that lie...
