Tales of the Clyde
Over the last few years I have been interviewing former Clyde players and managers (same set of questions) for publication in the Clyde programme. When the football stopped it seemed like a prime time to gather a few more interviews and pull them altogether in the one place, thus "Tales of the Clyde...

Re: Seven different scorers
Not Scottish football, but I noticed Spain achieved this feat a couple of weeks ago against Malta.

Re: Bill McCartney
Not a specific answer but it might help in a small way...the "The Arbroath Herald and Advertiser for the Montrose Burghs" on the 29th of March 1929 tells us that Billy McCartney (ex-Clyde) still goes to see his son playing for Morton. Cheers SB

I see Brora Rangers achieved the "seven different goalscorers" feat on Saturday against Buckie Thistle.

Clyde Shamrock
I've received an email asking if there was any connection between Clyde Shamrock (Glasgow Juvenile league) and Clyde FC. I am 100% certain there is no direct contact between the teams, however any information on Clyde Shamrock would be appreciated (I believe they played in Tollcross, Glasgow (maybe ...

Cup Winners Medals
I had Ronnie Tracey (Petershill, EK Thistle, Clyde, Albion Rovers and Stranraer) as a guest over at Broadwood recently, and he was telling he had won the Scottish Amateur Cup with Crosshouse Waverley, and the Junior Cup with EK Thistle. It got us wondering if anyone had achieved the treble ie Amateu...

Re: Oldest Player in Scottish Football...
Sorry "ScottishFA", I did do a search on "Oldest" but for whatever reason the previous didn't come up - admin feel free to merge these two if required. As another footnote, Keith Knox tells me he made his debut for Creetown in the South of Scotland League when he was 53...still to be confirmed. Cheers

Oldest Player in Scottish Football...
I know this will raise many issues as to whether the revamped Glasgow Cup (or City of Glasgow Cup) is a "genuine" tournament, but ignoring those issues for the moment it won't have been missed that Danny Lennon made his Clyde debut v Celtic Colts aged approximately 50 1/2 years. He's very probably t...

Oldest fixture in Scottish Football
Clyde's Promotion means we will renew acquaintance with Dumbarton next season. Dumbarton are our "oldest" opponents, we first met them competitively in the Scottish Cup on the 22nd November 1879, so this fixture has been running for 140 years. All the teams we previously met competitively no longer ...

Re: Three penalties
Came across the Second Division match between Albion Rovers and Clydebank on the 17th of March 1928 and thought it worthy of mention in here. Albion Rovers won 4-2, but Clydebank were awarded FOUR penalties, and according to the Glasgow Herald ALL of them were awarded for Rover's defender Cameron ha...

Re: New site administrator - Andy Mitchell
Well done to Andy for taking this on, it is still the premier information site for Scottish Football enquiries. I met Alan a couple of times at meetings he organised at the National Library in Edinburgh, so thanks also to Alan for keeping it going over these last few years.
Best Regards

Thanks Bluedragon. Changed days to think that a physical "cap" was awarded for a regional select game. Cheers Syd
