Re: CLYDE 1, CELTIC 1

Thanks a million Craig, I've been searching the match reports for that match for years now between all the usual websites and in the Mitchell as well, but totally missed the pre-match articles. Great stuff, that game has been bugging me for years. I'd better go and do my email to LS now...

Re: CLYDE 1, CELTIC 1

Always glad to assist where I can! Anyway, I'll email you three of the four teams you need, the one I can't find is Clyde v PTFC on 20th May 1941. I can't remember if I've raised it on here before (I've certainly been in touch with "Partick Thistle" and he can't help either), so if anyone ...

Re: CLYDE 1, CELTIC 1

I've got the Clyde team as McCulloch (T), Walters and Haddock; Sim, Finlay and White; McCulloch (W), Currie, McLean, Thomson and Steel. Note Steel has no "e" on the end. Cheers

Clyde's "invincibility" on the 29th of April

I was doing my usual research for Clyde's Legends Lunch on Saturday past (to mark 500 games at Broadwood and the 50th anniversary of the last game of season 66/67), and came across a couple of quirky statistics about Clyde and the 29th of April - it appears we are almost invincible on that day! We'v...

Re: The Pompey Cup

I wrote about the first match some time ago in the programme... "I recently purchased a programme for the Portsmouth v Clyde friendly match played on the 16th of October 1946. My interest in it, apart from now being the oldest programme I have in my Clyde collection, is that it probably holds s...

Re: The Pompey Cup

Thanks Gents, I had Cambuslang Rangers in 66/67, but not Port Glasgow so that extends the lifetime of the tournament by a season. Thanks again.

The Pompey Cup

I've been asked about The Pompey Cup, and I now know it's connection and why it was created. I also know that Duntocher Hibs won the inaugral tournament in 1949/50, and Cambuslang Rangers won it in 1966/67, but is there a complete list somewhere that I've missed, and who were the last winners? Also,...

Re: Multiple Goalkeepers

Good stuff Gents. The East Stirling game is mentioned on here http://www.goalkeepersaredifferent.com/index.html. I contacted this website yesterday, forgetting the expertise that exists on here, so I'll forward this trail to them, it looks like my offering of "six" is paltry compared to ot...

Re: Multiple Goalkeepers

Thanks Bluedragon, I went upstairs to get my Rothmans 72/73 only to find I'm missing that one, so thanks for clarifying. Wonder whether anyone can clarify the Scottish record?

Multiple Goalkeepers

Clyde have recently broken a club record with the use of our 6th goalkeeper this season (with a 7th an unused sub). Can anyone else match or "better" this figure. An extract from my programme article gives more details "The six incumbents this season started off with regular goalie Jo...

Peter Thorpe Queens Park, Clyde and Morton

I'm looking into Peter Thorpe, who played for Queens Park, Clyde and Morton. I have information on his time at Clyde, but after he went to Morton I notice he played relatively regularly including the first two matches in the Scottish Cup of 1922 (his last match is the draw against Clydebank, he isn'...
