Re: Inter League matches: Some questions

Sorry to hijack this thread but along similar lines here is a link to a page about Renton FC which contains 3 excellent photos and they are trying to discover who is in the photos. Maybe you could contact them and they may know.

Re: Elmpark FC

There was a workhouse/training home for girls way back in Elmpark, Govan Road. Maybe Govan/Kinning Park?

Also in 1890-91 an Elmpark Engine Works Company, Mavisbank. Which was where the Squinty Bridge in Glasgow is now, ie Govan/Kinning Park. Maybe they were associated with them?

"Third Lanark arrived back from their Argentine tour today" etc,

So maybe some more unknown TL friendlies?

Re: Perthshire v Renfrewshire 1888

No surprise that QP were included in Renfrewshire teams, as i think it was then in the East Renfrewshire Parliamentary Constituency. I play lawn bowls and even to this day QP bowling club and surrounding clubs still play in the Renfrewshire Championships.

Re: Scotland vs USSR 1967

The Daily Mirror of the following day quotes

"Willie Wallace came on as substitute for Denis Law in the Second Half".

This i suspect doesnt clear the issue up.

Don't know if this is relevant, but maybe others could find out if this is true. A simple google search of mcadam third lanark, gives a name of John McAdam and dob 3/9/1859 from footballdatabase.eu
