David Smellie
Does anyone here have dates of birth (and death?) for the delightfully-named David Smellie, please, or names of parents and/or wife? What I have, from a Bristol Rovers perspective, is below. Also, who exactly was transferred back to Motherwell in Dec 1897, as Smellie was with Rovers at that time, I ...

Ross Cousins
Does anyone here have dates of birth (and death?) for Ross Cousins, who played for East Fife around 1952, please? In case it is of interest, he played twice for Kenya whilst there on national service - a 7-1 win v Zanzibar on a neutral ground (24.9.52) and a 6-3 defeat in Uganda three days later.

Re: Piet Odijk
Thanks for your replies. Much appreciated. In November 1930, having played a League game the previous day and taken the overnight boat, Bristol Rovers played Holland and won 3-2. The local press was amazed that the opposition could have held them to such a close score. How times have changed! I have...

Random question, but does anyone here have dates of birth and death for the goalkeeper Piet Odijk, who played in goal for Holland in 1930, please?

Sam Irving
Does anyone here have access to finding out which day in Feb 1928 Sam Irving, who enjoyed many years in Scottish football with Dundee and Brechin City, joined Chelsea from Cardiff City, please? Are there appearances/goals for Brechin players in the 1930s anywhere on line? And, whilst I am asking, do...
Re: McNairn
Thank you so much, Prorege and Bluedragon. Hugely appreciated.
Re: McNairn
Sorry to bring up this topic again, but I wanted to check the details I have. Thank you for all those who have helped piece together a slightly enigmatic career. David Stevenson, b Kilwinning, June 1916 (son of David Stevenson and Agnes Muir of Tinto Hill, Kilwinning) and d 1955, GK, 6'; 11 st 7 lbs...

Northampton Town 1906
Hello, everyone! Apologies that this is clearly an English-related question, but I know the best research brains are on this website and wonder if anyone can help. I am looking for the eleventh player in the Northampton side which drew 2-2 with Bristol Rovers in the Southern League on 10th Nov 1906....

Re: Dates of birth and death
Thank you. Could well be John Granger, if one played for Celtic. No direct link with Rovers. I have written biographies of all Rovers players, so occasionally other names get mentioned, perhaps supplying the cross for his headed goal or being the keeper who saved his shot. For completeness, I am try...

Dates of birth and death
We are hoping our book of biographies of every Bristol Rovers player, 1883-1939 will soon appear. I will put details on here when I know more. In the meantime, a few Scottish players get a name-check in the text. For most I have dates, but am looking for years only of birth and death for the followi...

Re: Bill McCartney
And also his team-mate Andy McGeachan (I have born 1882 - when did he die?) - sorry, I should have added both in the original request. Thanks for any help with this.

Bill McCartney
Does anyone have dates of birth and death, please, for Bill McCartney, who played for Hibs and Clyde prior to WW1 and won a solitary Scottish cap in 1902?
