Re: Oldest Scorers

Not strictly the same topic, but a parallel one .... Rab Douglas' game at the weekend for Arbroath makes him one of the oldest players to appear in the Scottish League. Here is a provisional top seven, but I am sure there are more to add - so, here is a starting-point for the oldest men to play in t...

Walter Bain - Invercargill FC

alter George Stewart Bain, brother of John Bain (1854-1929, a Scotsman who played once for England) was born on 19th May 1866. He apparently played for Invercargill FC in the 1890s. Does anyone on here know anything about Walter Bain's time at Invercargill or anything else about his life? When did h...

Re: REID - St.Mirren

Emms and Wells suggests that it was George T Reid, born in 1884 at Blackland Mill. George Reid was at St Mirren, 1902-05 (24 League games, 7 gls, first played in 1902-03 season), then Middlesbrough 1905-06 (24,6), Johnstone in 1906-07, 1907-09 at Bradford Park Avenue (38,12), 1908-12 Brentford (102 ...

Re: Three penalties

Iain Russell scored three pens for Airdrie v Queen's Park today. I make this the 13th hat-trick of pens ever in the Scottish League.

Re: Kirkcaldy footballers in America (1912)

I believe the goalkeeper mentioned was Bristol-born Cliff Bennell (1886-1918), who married Amelia Kilmister in 1912 and died in Bristol at the age of 32. He never made the first team at Bristol Rovers, but appears to have been on their books prior to 1912.

Re: More dates of birth and death

I have it on good authority that it was Harold Bonthron Hutchison, not Hutchinson. Therefore, the suggested dates of birth of 1883 or 1885 may be incorrect. Does anyone have any information as to dates of birth/marriage/death for Harold Bonthron Hutchison, please? His career path would be: Blantyre ...

Re: Half-times required

Does anyone here have access to local reports on the games at Helensburgh in 1925 and Third Lanark in 1930, as listed below, please? I've still not found anything more than a final score. Any help will be much appreciated.

James Smith

Does anyone here have line-ups for Dundee Hibernian in Division Two in the 1924-25 season, please? James Smith, born in Glasgow on 26th July 1882, appears to have played and scored for them that season. What I am most interested in is the date of his last game and also the date of his last goal. I a...

Re: Jackie Sewell

 Here to pick brains again. During the research I'm doing I've found, in various sources, that Jackie Sewell, the former Ingerland international, played internationally for Zambia as well. Does anyone know if that's correct ? I also wondered about this when I spotted it a few mon...
