Re: Domestic Attendance Records Progression
Not exactly the same thing, but the Hibs v Hearts game was an all-seated Easter Road record. 20,205, beating 20,106. 57,857 is the record all-seated football attendance in Edinburgh (Barcelona v Hearts, 2007). 32,459 for an Edinburgh team officially at home (Hearts v AEK Athens, 2006). 17,954 at Tyn...

I can only add my tuppence worth, but this must be the among the most civilised, low-key sites on the internet and that's a blessed relief. Thanks to David for making it possible.

Maximum Ibrox capacity
Does anybody know what the all-time maximum capacity was at Ibrox? I'm trying to find out if it was bigger than the 120,000 that seems to have been the Bernabéu's biggest.

Thanks for that. Do you have a deadline or an estimated date for publishing?

Re: Researchers Required!
Can you give more of an idea of what would be involved or what you would like researchers to do? Is it making a complete list of results or is it writing a narrative account of the season or what? I'm afraid I've not read your earlier book. I'd be keen to get involved though I am in Spain and won't ...

Re: Scottish Cup Semis
I heard on the Dundee United commentary last season that it was the first time they had lost a Scottish Cup semi-final since 1958 (I think).

Football clubs and politics
Last summer Hearts released a statement to complain about the use of the club crest in a "Yes Scotland" poster that some people were showing at the Hibs game in August. I wonder, then, has any club ever explicitly endorsed a political party, candidate or vote in a referendum? I know Rangers and Celt...

Lowest away attendance
The programme from the recent Queen of the South-Hearts match informs me that Elgin's support at Palmerston in the League Cup this season was 3. What other clubs publish away attendances? Am I right in thinking Falkirk do? Hearts TV announced Cowdenbeath's support on Saturday as 103. Has any club re...

Re: mystery photo
I have no specific information, but what did Bob Kelly do during the War (apart from work in an office in 1940)? Could it be a military team?

Re: Scottish League Grounds: Updated Record Crowds (6/11/05)
Though it would be above the stated capacity of 20,897, the attendance for the Aberdeen-Dunfermline play-off in 1995 is usually given as 21,000. The "classic" capacity was 22,568, then it was 21,634 when the Richard Donald stand was built, then 22,199. I hadn't seen these other numbers before. And a...

The Webmaster is the only person I've ever found who shares my fascination with crowds and even exceeds it. This section will be a porn fest.

Recordings of Bob Crampsey
Were there justice in the world, Bob Crampsey appearances, lectures, etc., would fill youtube, displacing other things. Does anybody know where there are any recordings of his radio and TV appearances? There used to be a few things on youtube but now I can only find his commentary on Dundee United 5...

Re: Debate over actual attendances
Whatever the ethics of all this, it appears Rangers added 12,235 to their actual attendance against Cowdenbeath at the weekend, thus counting all season tickets whether present or not. That is to say, they reported very nearly 177% of the true figure. Though this percentage is lower than the 1972 fi...

Re: Arthur Montford
It has long been said (the notion was certainly in place by the mid-1970s if not before) that at one Scotland game being covered by Arthur, that he let slip the mask of impartiality - never the strongest of constructs for him, it must be said - with the injunction during the commentary to "watch yo...

Arthur Montford
Arthur Montford has died. I was born in 1982 so he was not a major figure in my football following, but he is a familiar and well-liked figure from videos and for older fans. The Daily Record has noted his passing in a short article. I imagine an obituary will be published tomorrow or soon after. ht...
