Re: Missed penalties for Scotland
Frank Gray missed from the spot against Belgium in Brussels in a Euro 84 qualifier. It was the night Dalglish scored two crackers.

Re: Scottish Football Historical Archive
Please forgive me if my lack of tech knowledge shows through in this message but I'm very much a pen 'n' bit o' paper man! Firstly, I hope your fortunes change Brian and whatever it is you and your family are going through gets better. Mere websites are understandably way down your priorities. Secon...

Re: Berwick Rangers
And it now reaches 45 after Falkirk's comfortable win. With Livingston next up, it could easily be the half-century!

Berwick Rangers
Apparently Berwick have now conceded 42 goals since last scoring a goal themselves! This surely has to be a record if true? Even Bon Accord didn't quite manage this

Re: Oldest fixture in Scottish Football
The Clyde v Dumbarton possibility raises the question, once more, of one club or two since Dumbarton did close down for a lengthy period after their loss of a Scottish League place in the late 1890s

Re: Highland League Results
Don't think there were many results grids on Brian McColl's site.
Anyone with the time and dedication could compile a whole host of seasons via the various digitised papers in the BNA website. From the 1950s on though, the offerings are fairly minimal.

Clyde v Albion / Queens Park
With the SPFL deciding to award 3-0 wins to two League 2 clubs in light of Clyde playing an ineligible player in earlier matches, I'm wondering why this change of tact from the authorities. Any similar occurrences in the past have resulted in points being deducted from the guilty club. The only time...

Scottish Cup
Noticed that the BBC again distinguished themselves with their Scottish Cup coverage yesterday. A catch-all report included the news that Glenafton Athletic had won their first ever Scottish Cup tie in their debut meeting with Threave Rovers. The reporter appeared oblivious to the fact that the New ...

Forrest, as a born and bred 'Mariner', I can confirm it's most definitely pronounced CAME...LON. You are indeed correct though when mentioning the posh derivative of CAMEL...ON. I can't recall any Camelon people ever using the posh version, only the 'Fur Coat 'n' Nae Knickers' outsiders referred to ...

Re: Definition of 'scrimmage'
I've got to say that I always considered the 'scrimmage' being akin to the scrum in rugby. I'm sure I've read stories of teams effectively surrounding the ball and edging towards goal whilst the defending side attempts to hold them at bay. It would explain why so few goalscorers are actually identif...

Re: Senior and Junior Football
From recollection, I'm fairly sure the 'private ground' criteria had something to do with the early designations between senior and junior. While the earliest years of the Scottish FA Cup would have included clubs with no privately owned ground, e.g. original entrants Callander, I'm fairly sure the ...
