Re: Another Scotland international - J Gourlay x2

No, just plain Robert, born 1858 in Barrhead. I have him at Arthurlie 1879-87, and no other clubs. Does that tally with your own info? Seems to be Andy, I have him listed every season bar season 1885/86 but I only have two line ups from fifteen confirmed games to date, he does play the following se...

Re: Another Scotland international - J Gourlay x2

Apologies if this has been posted before but reading through press reports from the 1880's relating to Arthurlie I came across new info for me at least. McPherson who was capped against England was commonly thought to be Robert as it was 90% R McPherson so on seeing him listed as B McPherson I just...

4 a-side tournaments

Been reading a lot about Football Club sports days and almost everyone has mention of a 4-a-side 'football' event. My query is that on almost every occasions they mention Team A scored 2 goals and one touch down for example, I understand that a lot of clubs played cross code games at that time and a...

Re: Extra Time in Scottish Football

Just realised that it wans't even a reply, the first game finished Arthurlie 4 South Western 3 but SW appealed on the grounds that the last 30 minutes of the game were played in near darkness and the appeal being upheld and a replay ordered.

Re: Extra Time in Scottish Football

Thanks for that, it was the first replay so looking at dates, the cup was regionalised then I understand, so Arthurlie played the first game on November 13th, replay on 27th, guessing 20th was off, then the following week it was a Renfrewshire Cup tie before the Scottish on December 11th then no gam...

Extra Time in Scottish Football

Sorry if I have missed it on here but does anyone know when 'extra time' was introduced in Scottish Football? The reason I ask is that although I am sure it happened before I came accross an Arthurlie match report last night from the 4th Round v South Western in 1880. In my notes previously I had th...

Re: Renfrewshire Cup finals

There isnt a complete history of the tournament to my knowledge, I have looked for it for many years, theres info on Brian Weirs site but also some ST Mirren related info here, it only lists scorers so maybe match some of the names?

William McInnes

Does anyone have info on William McInnes? He started off at Beith in 1921 then to Kilbirnie before Arthurlie, Luton then back to Beith till the early 30's. I have his Arthurlie details just looking for anything anyone can add for an article for this weeks Arthurlie programme.

Thanks as ever.
