Re: Third Lanark documentary on BBC Alba

Really enjoyed the documentary Andy. I am not old enough to even remember Third Lanark (and I doubt you are either!), but wouldn't it be great if all the plans come to fruition.

Re: Online Archive

Hi, I noticed your posts on the forum. I am the administrator of the scottishleague.net website, but have been really inactive on the forum for a while now. Several factors have led to this, work, family commitments as well as a recent bout of depression. Quite a few of us were working on the archiv...

Re: Maley's Record Still Remains Unbeaten

I completely agree with your observations Peter. I am pretty confident that Celtic WILL eventually beat the record set by Maley's side and I think all games need to be included. The Glasgow Cup/Charity Cup were major competitions back then, the evidence being the large attendances for these matches....

Re: Matchfacts 1891/92

Hi J.S.

I can help with the Glasgow v Edinburgh match. See link below. I would recommend the London Hearts website for most available information.

Sheriff of London Charity Shield

I came across this snippet earlier while researching the year 1899. http://londonhearts.com/scores/images/1899/1899111302.htm "Queen's Park, who drew with Aston Villa last season, wish it to remain in Glasgow for another month. after then it will be handed over to the Corinthians, who won it la...

Re: Scottish First Division top-scorers' 1890-1915

This is a bit of a tricky one to answer Kjell! A lot of the time newspapers would have credited different players for goals scored, but I think if you use the figures from the complete records books then they will be the most accurate. Hope this helps.

Re: The 1889 Scottish Cup (snow) Final

Hi Kjell, John Kelly was the goalkeeper for Celtic in both these matches. See an extract below from the 'maleysbhoys' website. "Celtic would go onto beat Dumbarton 4-1 in the semi-finals, before losing to Third Lanark 2-1 in the Scottish Cup Final (this was the second final between the teams in...

Re: Willie Maley of Celtic (and Partick Thistle and Third La

I can confirm that the Maley brothers played for Third Lanark in season 1887/88. William played both games against Cowlairs in the Scottish Cup and Tom and Willie played against Rangers in the Glasgow Cup in the same season.

Re: McLaughlan of Celtic 1891/92

I have been digging a bit deeper on this one. In John Litster's pre-war disc there is a J.McLaughland (left back) that played in the 1890/91 junior cup final for Chryston Athletic v Vale of Clyde. Can anyone provide a date for this game? It could be the same player.

Re: McLaughlan of Celtic 1891/92

Thanks Forrest, I have passed on the details. I have advised him to email the scottish football museum as they may have an entry for McLaughlan in the 1893 players registers.
Thanks again.

As you may have noticed the site has been down for a few days. This was due to some nice people clogging up the bandwidth which meant that the bandwidth limit was reached. Apologies.
