East Fife Players

This might be a long shot but I'm researching for a book on players who have played for East Fife since they joined the league in 1921. I've been through both the Litster discs and am looking for Dates of Birth for the following players. Any help would be greatly appreciated... Adam B. Allan: Signed...

The opening of New Gayfield

Has anyone got a decent quality pic that they could scan of the Arbroath and East Fife teams ahead of the first game in 1925?

Re: Player wages through history

Nowadays I can see the choice comes down to the history of Queen's Park and playing at Hampden, versus a paltry £30-40 a game playing for Peterhead. Or perhaps it's a question of players being based in Glasgow for work and not being good enough to play for Rangers, Celtic or Partick - but then you'...

Re: Team pics ID help needed

The upper photo is printed in 'Through the Lens: Glimpses of Stranraer FC' (1999) and dates from 1956-57. It does indeed include Andy Black, and the names are: Back, from left: Hugh Shaw, Jim McGuire, Andy Black, Wallace 'Sol' King, Bobby Wilson, Jimmy McKnight. Front: Davie Tennant, Jack Gilroy, J...

Team pics ID help needed

Can anyone help name any individuals in these pics? Both are Stranraer teams from the 1950s. I am hoping that one or both of the goalkeepers might be Andy Black, who made two appearances for East Fife before moving to Stranraer in 1955. http://i68.tinypic.com/21d3crr.jpg http://i65.tinypic.com/14mqk...

Re: Old Scottish football ground

East Fife didn't play at Powderhall in 1929-30. The Leith Athletic game was definitely played at Marine Gardens. Both pics are from that season...

Re: Old Scottish football ground

Well, there you go. I'd wrongly assumed that the second pic was from the big top of the league clash, Leith Athletic v East Fife (stop sniggering at the back). Then the first pic appeared, same line-up. Looks like I had them the wrong way around. Cheers guys...

Re: Old Scottish football ground

Okay. Here is a pic of the same players which I have as being taken the previous Saturday at Marine Gardens. Could this be Ochilview?

Re: Old Scottish football ground

Do you have any old pics of Ochilview Boab? I'd be interested to see what it was like pre-war. My first visit was in 1981, it probably looked very different back then...

Re: Old Scottish football ground

I'm 99 percent certain about the identity of the individuals in the pic - have cross-referenced them with other team photos of the time - fortunately there are a few, as we won promotion for the first time that season. The only occasions these eleven played together away from home (it's definitely n...
