Re: Robert Tait East Fife 1938
Bobby Tait signed for East Fife on 5th August 1936 and left to join Falkirk on loan on 21st August 1940.
He made 57 league and 11 Scottish Cup appearances during his time at Bayview. The only game he missed in the 1937-38 cup winning run was the first round tie at Airdrieonians...

Re: The errors of Andrew Smith
Interesting stuff.
On a slight tangent, I take it that the highest/ lowest East Fife attendances are for 1973-74 and 1972-73 respectively?
My records have:
11.12.71 21,000
21.10.72 20,000
3.11.73 23,000

Re: Former East Fifers at Wolves...
Remember, there was a lot of movement in wartime beyond normal transfer requirements, with players turning out for clubs close to barracks, ports or airfields where they were stationed or on leave. Hence Stanley Matthews turning out at Broomfield & Cappielow for example. Thanks, yes I was aware of ...

Re: Former East Fifers at Wolves...
For more on Aitken, see the Sunday Post for 22 September 1946: http://londonhearts.com/scores/images/1946/1946092108.htm 8th snippet down the column in bold, headed 'Even numbers won't help'. According to that, he was at Wolves in 1944/45. David Duncan signed for Wolves from Lochgelly Albert in Jan...

Interesting that Aitken went to Wolves in 1945-46 as he played throughout that season for East Fife. I wonder if he was invited down for a trial...

Former East Fifers at Wolves...
Undertaking some research on ex East Fife players Davie Duncan and George Aitken who were apparently both on the books of Wolverhampton Wanderers, probably in the early 1940's. According to club historians neither featured in the first team. I understand there is a comprehensive database of register...

Re: 1924 Curiosity?
My cousin, born in Chicago had this to say about the Scots Picnic: Yep. When I was a kid Dad and all his brothers belonged to Clan MacDuff which was a (chapter) of The Royal Order of Scottish Clans. There were other Clans around the USA (and I think Canada). It was a typical social/benevolent organi...

Aye, Jock Neish is the only player I have. I'm still hoping to check out the local Broxburn newspaper of the time one day. JC's line ups are incomplete as well I'm afraid...

Re: John Litster's pre war spreadsheet available soon
A quite remarkable power of work has obviously gone into this archive. As a comparison I have put in a ridiculous amount of research into East Fife stats and am still missing one league starting line up (1.3.1922 away to Broxburn in case anyone just happens to have it kicking around somewhere :mrgre...

Re: Back in 1963
For the record: the results from the day of the Sportsreel programme, Sep 7th 1963. As you'll see these were derby or as close to derby as possible fixtures with the games at Dumfries and Berwick the odd ones out. Because the Second Division contained nineteen teams one club missed out each week an...
