Meadowbank's 1994-95 deduction, plus a £5,000 fine was as a result of Paul Rutherford playing whilst suspended.

I don't have a specific date for the decision, but the Meadowbank programme dated 20/08/94 doesn't mention it, and the following week's issue (27/08/94) does.

A replayed replay was a sensible solution, and I reckon expelling Brechin is pretty harsh.

When was the last time a club was thrown out of the Cup. I can't recall any in my lifetime (born 1977 :D )

Morton 05/01/08 was 1367

I should have mentioned it previously, but I purchased a bound volume containing all of the 1928 Dispatch 'Green' sports editions not so long ago.

Let me know if there's anything from that year you need and I'll have a look.

Montrose v Pollok earlier in the season would pre-date the Queens v Linlithgow game at least...

I suppose you could count Girvan's previous foray into the cup, but they weren't junior in 1977.

I've consulted actual bound volumes in NLS on many occasions, but not recently.

I'd be surprised if they had been able to transfer everything they've got onto microfilm.

By chance I came across the following report in the Scottish Referee for 28 April 1890: "A pleasant game is fixed on Wednesday evening, on Hampden Park, between the I Zingari and Rugby Rovers in aid of the Langside Dorcas Society. Mr Charles Campbell has undertaken the management of the match, and ...

The microfilms are all kept in filing cabinets adjacent to the microfilm readers in the Edinburgh Room and you access them yourself these days. In there they've got the Evening News, Evening Dispatch, Scotsman and SoS and sundry other Edinburgh newspapers going back a long way. I've consulted them q...

Hope this helps --- From Livingston v Clyde programme, December 9 2006: 'STRIVE' C’MON, admit it, how many times have you walked by it, and given it no more than a cursory glance before finally making your way into the stadium? Come to think of it, how many times have you done exactly the same on th...

I should be able to piece together a complete list of Meadowbank's results in the Shield, although it's not something I have readily available at this moment.

From memory we competed in it from 1974-75 to around 1984.

Edit: We definitely didn't win it at any point.

Lowest home attendance for a top flight team?

I notice that the attendance at Fir Park for Gretna v Cowdenbeath came in at 342.

The question is whether any top flight team in Scottish football history has had a lower attendance for a competitive home match?
