Re: Hampden Park and HG Wells
In 'A Modern Utopia' Wells mentions "Village-Hampdens" (local amateur politicians) An expression referring to John Hampden. Could this be it? Wells wasn't the first one who used this expression.

Cheers, people. We have expanded immensely upon George's original research and are now ensuring the accuracy of the players' names. We have also been offered access to Welsh teamsheets which will ensure the same accuracy is extended to our opponents. I've asked the excellent nonleaguematters forum ...

Similar piece in the Sheffield Independent on 31 August. Given that Everton also had another John Cameron at that time, the Scotland int...

Re: mystery photo
When did he work as a coach in the Channel Islands? In the early 50's a football guide-book was published in the Netherlands that has some career details of all coaches working at the highest level at that time. Bob Kelly should be in it. I don't have a copy at home, but in a few weeks time I can re...

Re: Robert Thomson, Ajax coach 1950
A Robert Thomson born 24-10-1905 lived in Amsterdam [http://stadsarchief.amsterdam.nl/archieven/archiefbank/indexen/archiefkaarten/zoek/index.nl.html] Is this enough proof? I think I know where I could find more about his time in Amsterdam, but I have very little time to do offline research at the m...

John McAulay/Macaulay (who played for Burnley Union Star a little later ?)?
I haven't got access to it at the moment, but Burnley Express 23 January 1937 page 15 looks very promising.
