Re: Online Sources

Oh, the penalty. I can't find out which match that was scored in but I know it wasn't the FA Cup tie v Charlton Athletic on 4/1/58 (Law's only home goal that season). That leaves just four contenders - @ Derby 30/11/57, @ Lincoln 14/12/57, @ Swansea 22/2/58 & @ Sheffield United 8/3/58 Anyone who ca...

Re: Ally Robertson

Ally Robertson played in all 3 group games, v Bulgaria (2-2), Italy (2-1) and Sweden (5-0), scoring against Sweden. Annoyingly I don't have the line-ups for the Semi Final against Holland or the third-fourth place play off versus France. You can find the line-up for the semi final against Holland i...

Re: Netherlands v Scotland (Amateurs) 1969

There seems to be one substitution missing from the first line-up.

The Glasgow Herald missed a Dutch substitution in the second leg: Rene van de Kerkhof (MULO at that time) badly injured his knee, he was replaced by Tip (SC Enschede)

Re: Netherlands v Scotland (Amateurs) 1969

Not a complete line-up

Apart from Wilson and Hopper: Judge (Hunter), Hamill (Hay), Whitehead, Mackay, Guild (East Fife) 9 or 10 players in the starting line-up played for Queens Park

Re: Billy Reid's non-existent record?

There's a list of post-war managers in the Hamilton Academicals who's who by Peter McLeish. He agrees Paton was manager until May 1968

Re: Is there a Celtic history book

Hamlyn illustrated history of Celtic 1888=1998 by Graham McColl also has line-ups of all league and cup matches. It's probably cheaper/ easier to get. You will probably need a Celtic who's who as well. I can recommend An Alphabet of the Celts by Eugene MacBride Martin o' Connor George Sheridan (publ...

Re: William "Billy" Hunter

Is everbody absolutely sure that the manager and the Kilmarnock, Rangers , Airdrie etc. player is the same person? I'm starting to think that the W.B. Hunter who managed the Dutch national team a few times and Dutch club DFC (1914) was the former Bolton Wanderers player. I should be able to find his...
