Re: Thomas Hamilton and Robert Hamilton Kilmarnock

Ah, the old sibling rivalry, always makes for a good story angle. Alas, not on this occasion… Thistle lined up that day: John Colquhoun, Thomas Adams, Willie Bulloch, William Gardner, Alec Raisbeck, Jimmy McMullan, James Hamilton, John McTavish, James Marshall, Alf Gettins, Frank Branscombe As far a...

Re: Consecutive Goalscoring Feats

Scott McLean holds our club record for scoring in consecutive matches. He broke the long standing Jimmy Walker (1949 & 1950) / Joe McBride (1961) joint record when he netted in 8 matches in a row between 16-Sep-2000 and 04-Nov-2000. I know this doesn't compete but I do like an excuse to test out my ...

Re: Record derby attendances

^ Cheers for that, pleased to say that I concur exactly with all your domestics bar one. I have 1,500 for that Thistle game to your 200. Quite a difference. All in all I have 4 attendances for away games with Glasgow Thistle as below. Surely at least one of them must beat 200? Sat-16-Apr-1887 Glasgo...

Re: The Strange Moonlighting of Hamilton Academical

According to John Hansen, when Thistle played in Jakarta in 1972 against "Bulgarian Select" it was actually just Lokomotiv Plovdiv. The promoter reckoned the Indonesian fans would be more likely to turn out with the added "International" flavour. I must try to get to the bottom of that one...

Re: Record derby attendances

As you’ll all be aware, the Scottish League has long organised “pairings” for New Years day fixtures and, in that regard, Thistle’s traditional opponent has been obvious in three phases. From 1912-1925 it was Third Lanark (12 New Year fixtures in a row), from 1927 to 1965 it was Clyde (25 out of 29 ...

Scottish club record for consecutive foreign games?

So what's the Scottish club record for a consecutive run of games against foreign opposition? Where "consecutive" means unbroken by a game (competitive or friendly) against another Scottish side. Where "foreign" means any other side not from Scotland. Match can be played at home or abroad. In 1972, ...

Re: Scottish Cup Winners 1874 to 2013

If there's one thing I'm learning on this forum it's the importance of parameters and qualifying statements. I shall be on my A-game for any future stat reports. Re the Qualifying Cup, I uncovered an astonishing Greenock Morton fact when researching some Jags history lately. In season 1908-09, Thist...

Re: Partick Thistle v Clydebank 10/9/1975

Thistle set a club record that night - "best League Cup streak" of seven straight wins. Since then? Never even won three in a row. Can only give you Jags line up I'm afraid, at least it's a start... Alan Rough, John Hansen, Danny Kellachan, Jackie Campbell, Alan Hansen, Andy Anderson, Bobby Houston,...

Re: Comprehensive List of Matches at Hampden?

A couple of things from my list: The match against Partick Thistle on the 28th September 1908 is shown in both the Herald and Scotsman as being at Hampden, but the PTFC Official History shows it as Ibrox - any clarification would be appreciated. Also, the league match against Motherwell on the 3rd ...

Extra Time Hat Tricks?

In over 6,000 competitive games since 1872 only one man has ever put the ball in the Rangers net 5 times in one match - Alec Hair of Partick Thistle. Alec’s 5 would stand as an amazing feat in its own right - that he would do it for Thistle at Hampden in a Cup Final really takes the biscuit! Alec’s ...

Most spectacular one man show?

The "7 different scorers" thread got me to thinking about the opposite. How about one man feats? For Thistle, I find 8 historical instances where one man has scored all four, most recently as below. No instances of five or more. SFL First Division - game 27 Sat-26-Dec-1987 East Fife [h] W4-2 scorer:...

Under the "one goal, one scorer" criteria Thistle can do 6 at best… SFL First Division - game 27 Sat-23-Mar-2013 Livingston [h] W6-1 scorers: Aaron Muirhead (pen), Steven Craig, James Craigen, Stevie Lawless, Chris Erskine, Kris Doolan 7 different scorers twice… Friendly Wed-08-Aug-1990 Tarff Rover...
