If so, can someone check for the ref in the Scottish Cup tie between Falkirk & Celtic on 21st February 1953
Just dug out the match programme, which gives the ref as D. Gerrard of Aberdeen.

Not quite a record! How about Hibs and Hearts in the early 50s, each playing in Division A, Division C and East of Scotland League.

Sounds like a case of distorted memory. Would have been kind of difficult to play football in a hood. (Did they have hoodies back then?)

Would Costa Brava do instead? Have a look at this http://www.davehilley.com/ and order him up his Christmas present!

On 22 March 1985 there was an Under 15 schools international in Nottingham, which England won 4-3. It was part of that season's Victory Shield.

I don't have scorers or teams, but if you keep an eye on eBay long enough, the programme will probably turn up to give you an idea of who played.

There's one name missing from the London Hearts list: Peter Lorimer. So that makes 15 in total. Here are some more details: Scotland players sent off 1. Billy Steel (Dundee) Austria 4, Scotland 0, Vienna, 27.05.51. Sent off for retaliation in 82nd minute. 2. Bertie Auld (Celtic) Holland 1, Scotland ...

Stirling University will be delighted at getting into the East of Scotland League, but won't be applying for SFA membership (or Stirlingshire FA) in the foreseeable future, as the ground does not even come close to meeting the criteria. The team will be looking to rise to the ESL Premier Division fa...

There is a reasonable page on Wikipedia with previous winners. By checking the history of the page, it has been mainly edited by someone called Big Jim Fae Scotland, whose profile says he is a graduate from Glasgow..... I was listening to the game on the radio, and I remember the commentator saying that the crowd had just been announced, and was a hundred or so short of the highest of the season. So I guess that 30 was a typo by someone at the Press Association, which has just been picked up blindly by other report...

I've managed to dig out three copies of the players union journal, all with different identities. May 1947 saw issue 1 of Scottish Football, 16 pages of news, with a big photo of union secretary Alex Millar on the front, and the first few inside pages have articles about the background to the union....

Auction house delights

A couple of interesting auctions coming up, and the catalogues are worth looking at simply for the historic information they contain. Much the best is Graham Budd's Sporting Memorabilia sale in London on 7 & 8 May, see http://www.grahambuddauctions.co.uk/# for further info. Closer to home is David C...

Disputed Goals - new UEFA guidelines

Interesting development from UEFA. At their Executive Committee meeting last week, they agreed how to resolve discussions about who scored a goal. Could do with something similar in Scotland! Disputed Goals Guidelines Which player scored the goal? Who gets the credit? Who gets the blame? Sometimes t...

Scottish Football Reminiscences, 1890

I just stumbled across this link http://www.pgdp.net/c/project.php?id=projectID456f1334bb220&detail_level=1 It is part of a project to digitise old texts, and despite being a US/Canadian operation it has got hold of a copy of DD Bone's 'Scottish Football Reminiscences' published in 1890, and current...

Pitch unplayable - other examples?

In the light of the Fir Park fiasco, have there been other examples in Scotland of pitches that have become so unplayable that a side has had to effectively move out? Obviously stadium redevelopment has had an impact from time to time, but that can be planned. And there have been individual games th...
