Thanks for the responses, very helpful.

I may have written the date down wrongly - the reason I found out about the game was seeing a programme advertised.

Scotland XI matches in 1945 and 1953

I'm trying to find details of a couple of Scotland XI matches:

18 November 1945, Scotland played the Combined Services in Hamburg. What was the score?

In 1952/53, around Jan/Feb, Scotland played the British Army at Hampden, and I think won 2-1. What was the exact date?

Mainly cup ties but a few league games as well.

I'll buy the Rothmans book because I always have, but was interested to see that the SPL and SFL have signed up to this: http://www.acblack.com/Catalogue/details.asp?sku=1425523&dept%5Fid=11 which is described as the official yearbook. Very wary of any new product that claims to be the best, especia...

The Scottish Juvenile FA no longer exists, having become the Association of Scottish Youth Football Clubs in the 1990s, and then merged with various other bodies to form the Scottish Youth FA. I have a handbook from the ASYFA for 1995/96, which usefully lists international games. The Scotland v Engl...

A bit more info: He was listed as the goalkeeper in the Hibs programme for the home friendly v Schalke on 2 August 1971, so perhaps that was his first team appearance you were thinking of. Looking through that season's programmes, while he started as a regular in the East of Scotland team, he doesn'...

Personally, my wife can't wait to get her hands on my collection - she has seen the prices these things fetch on ebay. But to help her out in the event of me departing these shores, I have typed out a list of the more reliable auction houses and dealers. And, more to the point, I have named some of ...

Eddie Pryce signed for Hibs in the summer of 1971 from Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, but as far as I can tell he never made it to the first team. He was a regular in the East of Scotland League side, but at this time Hibs were well served for goalkeepers with Jim Herriot and then Jim McArthur. As for a pre...

If so, can someone check for the ref in the Scottish Cup tie between Falkirk & Celtic on 21st February 1953
Just dug out the match programme, which gives the ref as D. Gerrard of Aberdeen.

Not quite a record! How about Hibs and Hearts in the early 50s, each playing in Division A, Division C and East of Scotland League.

Sounds like a case of distorted memory. Would have been kind of difficult to play football in a hood. (Did they have hoodies back then?)

Would Costa Brava do instead? Have a look at this http://www.davehilley.com/ and order him up his Christmas present!

On 22 March 1985 there was an Under 15 schools international in Nottingham, which England won 4-3. It was part of that season's Victory Shield.

I don't have scorers or teams, but if you keep an eye on eBay long enough, the programme will probably turn up to give you an idea of who played.

There's one name missing from the London Hearts list: Peter Lorimer. So that makes 15 in total. Here are some more details: Scotland players sent off 1. Billy Steel (Dundee) Austria 4, Scotland 0, Vienna, 27.05.51. Sent off for retaliation in 82nd minute. 2. Bertie Auld (Celtic) Holland 1, Scotland ...

Stirling University will be delighted at getting into the East of Scotland League, but won't be applying for SFA membership (or Stirlingshire FA) in the foreseeable future, as the ground does not even come close to meeting the criteria. The team will be looking to rise to the ESL Premier Division fa...
