Re: Opening of Floodlights
Thanks very much. I noticed a suggestion on another forum that the bad winter of 1962-63 may have scupperred Dundee United's plans for a formal opening. On the topic of programmes - I have copies of: Rangers, Hibs, Hearts, QotS, Celtic, Third Lanark, Raith, Queen's Park, Stirling, Dundee Utd St Joh...

England v Scotland juvenile international 1934-35
I've been sent this query by Fraser Donald. Can anyone help? My late father played for Scotland in the Juvenile International at Old Trafford in the 1934-35 season. I have his International Cap which is Dark Blue Velvet with white silk tassel and 1934-35 embroidered on it. I am looking for a match ...

Re: Cowdenbeath FC 1880-2020
I've already received my set of Cowdenbeath histories, and would just like to say that David has done a magnificent job. They are entertaining, well designed and a joy to read. Highly recommended!

The previous Wales game had Phillips (Swansea) alongside Rodriguez (Cardiff) at full back.

Re: Three penalties
Another one to add to the list of penalty hat-tricks: Finlay Speedie scored three for Dumbarton against Ayr United on 18 November 1911. It was a Scottish Qualifying Cup semi-final.
Somewhat unusually, Speedie wrote the match report in Monday's Scottish Referee, describing his own feat.

First English winner of Scottish Cup
I have been posed these questions by Jack Thomas through the admin mailbox: I am trying to find out the first Englishman to win Scottish FA Cup. I know Jim Welford was first Englishman to win both FA Cup and Scottish Cup but was he first to win Scottish Cup? Also who was first Englishman to score in...

The Dunblane Rovers minute books are in Stirling Council archives: http://www.stirlingarchives.scot/2017/12/01/dunblane-rovers-minute-books-1921-1934/ The minutes will almost certainly list the Dunblane team, but I guess you will need to consult the Stirling Observer for the match report and the QP ...

Re: East of Scotland League 1966-67 and 1972-73
The 1972-73 table is intriguing. Without access to newspapers, the nearest I can find to an answer is in the book about Duns FC by Colin Pike, which covers the season in detail. He lists the league table each week, and at 14 April 1973 it includes Edinburgh University with a record of P25, W8, D7, L...
