Re: Under Age Juvenile Internationals 1962

I think these were probably the Scottish Association of Boys Clubs internationals.

Scotland played Wales on Friday 16 March 1962, at Villa Park in Birmingham for some reason. The match is only mentioned in the papers as Billy Wright attended.

Willie McGonnigle, Maryhill Hibs. An outside left, not to be confused with Willie 'Peter' McGonagle, Celtic left back.

Willie McHarg, Denny Hibs.

Re: Junior International records

Some answers, by looking through club histories and news reports: Blantyre Vics: Beadle was in fact Beedie: William A C Beedie, who played over 200 games for Portsmouth in the 1920s. Clydebank: Lang should read Laing; I think this is probably James Laing who then played for Strathclyde, Bathgate and...

Re: Football: Our Winter Game

I've got a copy in my collection, and I'm fairly sure it is in the National Library. But even better, those nice people at Google have digitised it: https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=jEA ... &q&f=false

Re: Third Lanark documentary on BBC Alba

Thanks.

For anyone still interested in seeing the film, it is on BBC iPlayer until the beginning of March - within the UK only, unfortunately - at this link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09qc907

Re: Another Scotland international - J Gourlay x2

No, just plain Robert, born 1858 in Barrhead.

I have him at Arthurlie 1879-87, and no other clubs. Does that tally with your own info?

Re: Another Scotland international - J Gourlay x2

Apologies if this has been posted before but reading through press reports from the 1880's relating to Arthurlie I came across new info for me at least. McPherson who was capped against England was commonly thought to be Robert as it was 90% R McPherson so on seeing him listed as B McPherson I just...

It took a while, but I've now confirmed his (illegitimate) birth on 5 July 1866 at Rattray, Perthshire.

Third Lanark documentary on BBC Alba

BBC Alba will be showing a new documentary on Third Lanark on Saturday 27 January 2018 at 9pm. And no doubt thereafter on iplayer. It tells the story of the club, with a particular focus on its demise. I may appear at some stage (at least I should hope so, given the amount of time they spent filming...

Re: 1980/81 season : Help required

My first reaction was to point you at the Evening Times archive on Google newspapers, but I see they are missing a lot of issues in 1980 and even the edition for Saturday 9 August, which includes the Sports Times, is missing a few pages. Here is one quick answer, from the Rangers Football Companion ...

Re: London Hearts results database

Perhaps it would be better to try the Match Reports database: http://www.londonhearts.com/scores/imag ... rlist.html

Just click on a year, and then for each date it includes all the relevant matches.

Re: Wales - Scotland 2-0 16th May 1981

I just watched a video of the match on Youtube and although brief highlights can be misleading, it would be hard to find a worse defensive display from a Scotland team - not hard to see why this was Gordon McQueen's last cap. On the sending off, two points. First, it was a second booking rather viol...
