Re: IMPORTANT NOTICE - FUTURE OF THIS SITE

Only just read this (years of ignoring stickies on forums due to the usual 'behave yourself' guidelines posted). Will be sorry to see the forum go. It was almost always a haven of sensible debate free of the bias and trolling that affects other football forums. I hope someone can be found to carry i...

Re: Football clubs and politics

I've read several sources (Bill Murray's books, the occasional demented letter writer to the Herald, etc) claim that Willie Waddell had Rangers 'officially' back the No vote in the 1979 devolution referendum. I'm not sure whether this is an urban legend or Waddell's own opinion which was misundersto...

Re: Fan Ownership

I don't know really know anything about the proposed legislation mentioned in the OP but not knowing anything has never previously stopped me commenting. Something 'scottish' mentions - the fans are already the biggest investor. In my experience, this has been the most difficult part - getting fans ...

Re: SPFL & TV

Eh? It is an inconvenience because they and their supporters are shifted around at will - three successive Friday nights, for example - in return for next to no financial gain. They and their supporters are meant to pick up the majority of the subs required to pay for the contract, accept the majori...

Re: SPFL & TV

Lawwell should have a word with the couple of clowns that negotiated it. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dwR4XpsgI1Q/UBaUVxcNceI/AAAAAAAAAC4/FDz7G_Aasxk/s1600/f975f91e.jpg As said above, the majority of Celtic's home league games are at 3pm on a Saturday anyway. I believe their biggest home league attenda...

Re: Finger On The Pulse

I didn't know Ian was back in the game.

I sort of knew him a while back - a friend of a friend - but haven't heard from him in years. He sometimes had a hectic lifestyle and I hope he settles down now.

There is a substantial thread on another forum which contains photographs taken by supporters.

If I may be permitted to post a couple.

Re: Freedom for football

It's been a while since I was on and the moment for reply has probably gone. I will say that any attempt at nostalgic reflection will always involve omitting the negative aspects. I might argue, correctly, that the golden era of pop music was from the arrival of The Beatles to the end of the 1970’s....

Re: ITALY

Interesting reading. The decline of Serie A fascinates me as one who remembers the day when every top player went there. I had vague thoughts that a disastrous TV deal (where have we heard that before?) had contributed. The bubble simply burst. I keep waiting for it to happen to the English Premiers...

Re: A Title Challenge?

Tbh, I don't watch a lot of Scottish games. I would, though, be very surprised if the likes of Aberdeen have came on that much in the 3 or so years since I last watched them - or Celtic have regressed even more dramatically than first thought. Celtic seem to be making heavy weather of things but I d...

William Hill have Celtic 1/33 to win the title. They are rarely so spectacularly wrong.

Re: Most tasteless club name?

However, Jim Wilkie in his book “Across the Great Divide” states that the club did go into liquidation but that the new proprietors would strike a deal with the liquidators and make the club “not a new body, but merely a reorganised continuation.” Nevertheless he does go on to point out that the of...
