Re: Most tasteless club name?

Therein lies the paradox. Since most, including the fawning media, regard this Rangers as the same club as the previous one I'm sure if/when Ra Tic play the Rangers newco, they won't charge their dimwitted supporters the £40+ they did in 2011-12 when they last played the oldco but prices equivalent...

Re: Salt in the wound

I read somewhere that Alloa were 500-1 on one of the betting sites at 2-0. A part-time team at 500-1 to come back and win is quite an achievement. Well done to them.

Scottish Cup 4th Round

The authorities must have been dreading the day the Rangers newco was drawn against Kilmarnock. One of the fiercest, bloodiest and hate-filled fixtures in world football is on the calendar again. For years, people have been able to rebuild a shattered Scotland - children able to play on the streets,...

It doesn't look like Motherwell FC will be around for much longer, in any case, so you may well get your wish to avoid matches of this nature.

Why? What are you planning to do?

It would seem to me that you should away whilst in this highly agitated state of mind.

How Germany reinvented football

Read it and weep. Bold decision making, policies actually implemented, fan ownership, everything about the greater good of the game - naw, none of that pish will ever work here. http://businesslife.ba.com/Ideas/Features/How-Germany-reinvented-football.html " In 2004, the German team suffered a rare ...

Re: the FIFA vice-presidency

The Guardian article makes no mention of parachuting anyone in. Ferdinand is 'one of several names under consideration' who will 'have to stand for election'.

Now, dry your eyes, chick, xx.

Re: Perspective on Europe so far.

I'd also add that Celtic have qualified for the Champions League group stages twice in six seasons. They've also been bailed out of early European exits twice in the last 3 years by UEFA. They are not regulars in the CL and never have been. What else could they do? Stop signing so much dross whilst ...

Re: Perspective on Europe so far.

Why would it be irresponsible or morally repugnant to set up a tax avoidance scheme? Celtic did so before and they could do so again, if they wanted. Celtic have also benefited from public money and dubious land deals which has no doubt deprived the public of money that could have been spent on skoo...

Re: Perspective on Europe so far.

It's a paper exercise. Given the number of matches and clubs in Europe then I'm suspicious that this is as rare an event as UEFA are making out. Legia were not acting maliciously or seeking to gain an unfair advantage. They thought, not unreasonably, the player had served his suspension and brought ...

The Polish chairman thinks so too. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9412717/champions-league-legia-warsaw-coach-henning-berg-says-club-plan-uefa-appeal?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter "We are absolutely shocked at this decision. Re: Perspective on Europe so far.

I get it now. Debrecen fielded an ineligible player and Legia fielded an ineligible player. Legia's administrative error was so severe that it couldn't be met with a fine. It changed the course of history, so it did. Of course, we're always told that Celtic have a noble history of doing the right th...

Re: Perspective on Europe so far.

It now appears that Legia did an awful thing by introducing an ineligible player with 4 minutes to go whilst 6-1 up. This was a clear attempt to change the outcome of the tie and Celtic have been reinstated.

Re: Perspective on Europe so far.

I thought Celtic would struggle but not receive their heaviest ever defeat over two legs. They must be in a worse state than I thought.

Henning Berg should get an additional EBT for his efforts.

Re: Perspective on Europe so far.

It's been a few years since I watched Aberdeen - and I'm aware they won a trophy last season - but I was shocked when I seen they'd won in Holland the other night. They must have spent a fortune on new players or something as the last Aberdeen team I watched couldn't have managed that. Not surprised...
