Re: IMPORTANT NOTICE - FUTURE OF THIS SITE
Only just read this (years of ignoring stickies on forums due to the usual 'behave yourself' guidelines posted). Will be sorry to see the forum go. It was almost always a haven of sensible debate free of the bias and trolling that affects other football forums. I hope someone can be found to carry ...

Re: Football clubs and politics
I dont think football clubs generally can afford to be choosy when commercial income is available. At QoS both Yes Scotland and Better Together paid to display banners in the early part of the season (they wete hung side by side). The Labour Party have a paid for hoarding. Its not a candidate one, i...

Re: Brora Rangers
Only to add that the League officially considers all playoff matches to be fixtures of the higher League. Hence why at the end of last season we played Falkirk in a two legged "Premiership Play Off Match" and despite not being televised it had a 4th official as all Premiership matches do. The League...

Re: What To Do Against Gibraltar
These are the public ticket prices (SSC members got a small discount for Gibraltar). IMHO sensible pricing for Northern Ireland, way over the top for Gibraltar. Scotland v Northern Ireland West /East - £15 Adult / £5 Child (under 16) South Upper - £18 North & South Lower - £20 Scotland v Gibraltar ...

Re: What To Do Against Gibraltar
And the pricing was pretty much scandalous in the circumstances. £45 to watch Gibraltar is a wee bit of profiteering from the SFA. I was surprised the crowd was as high as it was (that said I went!). I do know friends who gave it a miss rather than pay the same to watch Gibraltar as they do to see ...

Re: What To Do Against Gibraltar
Incidentally, I don't think that crowd was at all bad, even taking into account the kids. The opposition was monumentally poor. It was played on a Sunday. With a 5pm kick-off. Live on TV. And a full set of lower league fixtures 24 hours previously including home games for Rangers and Hearts. And th...

Re: What To Do Against Gibraltar
The best you can say is we almost but not quite reverted to type, two fortunate penalties helped mind you. So Fletcher got a hat trick, I’m sure he’s proud of that achievement against Gibraltar. I would have fancied Kevin Kyle or even Kris Boyd to do that against such opposition. Still we can look ...

Re: What To Do Against Gibraltar
I could have sworn the announcer announced 43 thousand odds as I was walking out of the stadium. It stuck in my mind as my companion and I had debated the attendance during the game and he thought there might be 45,000 whilst I thought it was nowhere near that (we couldn't see the South Upper from w...

Re: First yellow card?
I'm pretty sure I remember a period in the 80's when it was decided that they wouldn't show actual cards, having done so in the past. Seem to recall it didn't last long before they were back to showing cards again but I wouldn't have a clue exactly when it happened. 83/84 is in the right time frame ...

Re: SPFL & TV
Eh? It is an inconvenience because they and their supporters are shifted around at will - three successive Friday nights, for example - in return for next to no financial gain. They and their supporters are meant to pick up the majority of the subs required to pay for the contract, accept the major...

Re: SPFL & TV
As said above, the majority of Celtic's home league games are at 3pm on a Saturday anyway. I believe their biggest home league attendance so far this season was the recent match against Aberdeen - which was Sunday at 1pm and live on TV. There is undoubtedly anger and frustration at the Scottish TV ...

Re: SPFL & TV
The idea that anyone other than Celtic, and perhaps Rangers, would benefit financially from the tv deal being scrapped is simply ludicrous. I'm far from convinced that either of them would either for that matter but he's got to be seen to say the right things I suppose.

Barry SMith resigned as Alloa manager on Saturday night. No word on a caretaker manager as yet so far as I can see.
