Re: Lowest away attendance
The programme from the recent Queen of the South-Hearts match informs me that Elgin's support at Palmerston in the League Cup this season was 3. What other clubs publish away attendances? Am I right in thinking Falkirk do? Hearts TV announced Cowdenbeath's support on Saturday as 103. Has any club r...

Re: Tom McAteer Benefit Match 1909
I have also seen in August 1930 the Scottish Football Association gave permission for benefit matches to be played for long-serving Rangers Dougie Gray and Davie Meiklejohn. The SFA still have to give permission for a benefit match now. Or at least they still have to give permission for a club to p...

Re: Scottish football from abroad
Queen of the South have been full time since 2007 David. Livingston are full time. Raith Rovers are to all intents and purposes full time (they have two part time first teamers, goalkeeper David McGurn who is a PE teacher or similar and centre half Dougie Hill who is a heating engineer). Dum...

Re: Scottish football from abroad
Since around 1990 most teams in the top two divisions have been full-time. Right now I’d say all Premiership teams are full-time, plus at least Hearts, Hibs, Rangers, Falkirk in the Championship. I’m not sure about Livingston, Raith Rovers and Queen of the South though the first two of these have b...

Re: Scottish League Grounds: Updated Record Crowds (6/11/05)
QOS Palmerston Park 8,690 6,278 Dundee/Scottish Cup 8 Mar 2008 Yeah, still accurate, though worth noting of course that capacity at the time of that Dundee game was only 6,412 with part of that capacity inaccessible to the public too so it was too all intents and purposes a sell out. We've increase...

Re: Finger On The Pulse
He sometimes had a hectic lifestyle and I hope he settles down now. Hectic? I'll say. I once saw him on a flight from Prestwick to Girona the Monday after a game, when Thistle (who he was managing at the time) had a midweek match too. I think he had a bar somewhere over there. He had a bar in or ne...

Re: Club Managers
Scott Booth away from Stenhousemuir after less than a year: http://spfl.co.uk/news/article/booth-leaves-stenhousemuir/ Thanks for that. Duly updated. Meanwhile, anyone know wtf is happening at Ibrox? That's two managers resigned and been in the dugout for the next game. Neither resigned as such tho...

Re: Half time subs 45th or 46th minute?
In theory there's no difference between a HT sub and any other that happens exactly on the cusp of a change of minute. A HT sub isn't on the field at 45:00 and is immediately afterward. How do you record it when someone comes on at 63:00? Is that the 63rd or 64th minute? The principle for Half Time ...

Re: Arthur Montford
I never really saw or heard much of Arthur Montford's commentaries. We didn't get Scotsport as we were served by Border tv and got the "Big Match" on ITV instead. However, I heard him occasionally. I did however have the pleasure of meeting him in the Boardroom at Morton a few times and he was, as o...

Re: Scotland v England
The Independent and the Herald say 49,526. Thanks, Andy. Thought I heard something at the end of the game but couldn't make it out. Not sure what to make of that. Obviously, segregation meant it wouldn't be a full house and neither Hampden nor Ibrox would better that total but it still suggests uns...

Re: League Cup Semi-Final draw
Oh, I don't know. I for one was very excited by the draw. Think about it. A derby featuring two great rivals who haven't clashed in a knockout competition for several years. I think you'll find, David, that these two sides have never met in a competitive fixture at first team level. http://www.ange...

Re: FA Cup in the raw.
Dumbarton have lost out big time here. When they moved to their current ground it was with the express intention of expanding if and when circumstances permitted. Surely any planning issues would have been dealt with before the construction of the present stadium? I just don't understand this at al...

Re: FA Cup in the raw.
Without go inn into it all, Alloa couldn't have known at the start of the season they would be playing in the semi-finals whereas Cowdenbeath expected a league game. Better fixture programming which allotted home games to Rangers on cup tie weekends would have prevented this. We'll see what happens...
