No sackings - So Far

Funnily , Hamilton just now are bottom of the SPL and I reckon their manager has , bar Craig Levein, got the safest job in the division.

Give Managers a chance

I dont know if I'm heading away from a Scottish football topic here, but previous posts are on about Sam Allardyce being touted for the England job, cast your mind back to the early /mid eighties and people like Graeme Turner ,Laurie Mc Mennamey (sorry if I've got the spelling wrong ) up for the pos...

No sackings - So Far

In todays financial climate maybe clubs cant afford to sack a manager and pay out his remaining contract, very often the rest of his backroom staff too, and then engage another two or three .

Juvenile football

My understanding of the Juvenile game was , senior, under 27 year old and Secondary Juvenile, under 21 year old. The reason given for under 27 was to keep a fairly high standard of play, this was in the days you were thought of as finished at 30. I used to love watching and playing in the old summer...

three points for a win

The League of Ireland about 25 years ago had 4 points for an away win, 3 points for a home win, 2 for an away draw and 1 point for a home draw. If this had been used in Scotland in 64/65 season Kilmarnock would have won the league by 2 points, picking up 4 points at Tynecastle on the last day of the...

Three points for a win

But the team that is trying to win it and still ends up drawing looses two points instead of one. Sometimes watching a team with its back to the wall getting pulverised by superior opposition and managing to etch out a draw can be compelling.

Three points for a win

Is there anybody, like me who, has never been in favour of this system. I find it unfair that a team can draw four consecutive games and another can win two and loose two and still be two points better off.

Ten in a row

Personally I don't think the Premier league has been good for Scottish football's wellbeing. In the 60's to mid 70's Scottish clubs were regular semi finalists if not quarter finalists in the three competitions and in the thirtythree years since it has been dismall . I've watched a few junior games ...

Scottish Cup

Should the lower division(s) of the SFL be regionalised for the same reason, ie Stranraer to Elgin. Then again the Scottish junior cup is an all in draw from round one and the Junior teams have long accepted this. I personally would like to see an amalgamation of senior non league teams with the jun...

Programme also states Frank Munro of Dundee United as traveling reserve player and was John Prentices first game in charge of Scotland when in fact he was in charge a few weeks earlier in the match against England at Hampden.
