I'm still struggling to get my head round this, would travel costs have been less to scottish teams than english teams at that time? It surely must have been a reserve XI, perhaps they were thinking instead of first team and reserves alternating Saturdays at home they could have had english first di...

Gateshead and Newcastle in the scottish league

I've read many articles which refer to Gateshead applying for the scottish league after they got voted out of the english league, but today I stumbled across a reference to Newcastle applying for the scottish league in the inter war period. This seems completely bonkers to me so was wondering if any...

Most Replied tie in the scottish (qualifying) cup?

Came across the 1901/02 scottish qualifying cup tie between Albion Rovers and Wishaw United that went to a 5th replay before Wishaw prevailed. This must be a contender for the most replayed tie in the scottish cup, albiet in the qualifying competition. Anyone know of a more replayed tie?

In another case of erroneus reporting Lee Wallace has been given credit for Larry Kingston's winner at Tynie today on BBC, sky sports news, soccerbase and numerous betting websites. I would have thought it would be difficult to confuse Lee Wallace with Larry, but someone obviously did. Be interestin...

I bought the book when I was in Kirkcaldy last week, it looked like they still had plenty of copies left (a display pile in the window anyway). Its crammed with information and full stats at the back of the book so worth the £26.

This is where you're wrong, past tournaments have proven that the income for a host country vastly outweighs the expenditure on infrastucture. For the failed Euro 2008 bid, the estimated cost of upgrading stadia was £80/100m, the estimated income from the tournament was around £400/500m. You may we...

Kilsyth Rangers history has him signing from Kelvinside Thistle at the begining of the 1957-58 season. He's recorded as scoring 11 goals for them in the 17 matches between September 4th and January 11th, but there is no record of how many of these games he played or if he played any outside of this ...

I don't think there is any reason why in the future we should try and host an event like the euros in the future. It would be better if there was still only 16 teams qualifying, but we should be able to build facitlities with required facilities for the championships which are reduced down afterward...

As a side note according to the new St.Bernard's book, they can beat both Heats and Hibs winning margins, beating Roseberry 22-0 on the 22/9/1883 in the East of Scotland Shield

I have the original history by George Campbell, how does it compare with that? I too have a copy of George Campbell's book and bought the new book on Monday. The new book has a comprehensive stats section showing all the known results and line-ups for St.Bernards (as well as the 2nd and 3rd teams u...

Recreation Park Record?

I'm led to believe that Stirling Albion played a league game v East Fife in January 1950 at Recreation Park Alloa, and this game attracted 11,000 making it the record league crowd for a game at that venue. Just wondering if it true that the biggest crowd for a league game at Recreation park didn't i...

I think you may well be right.

However my Dad is one for Hearts. I know of a Killie ST holder who doesn't go to old firm games too. Thing is being ST holders they've alreday given their cash to the clubs

Clubs start talking about unfair this and the old firm are trying to fleece us again I think they need to take a good look in the mirror. They have fleeced Old Firm fans for years with inflated ticket prices. Too wrongs make a right then? Old firm fans are on a weak footing complaining about pricin...
