Italy - Roma and Lazio have both won Serie A this decade. To claim there 3rd and 2nd titles respectively, even Hearts can beat that Germany - I think the small matter of the Berlin Wall might have hindered development of a reasonably strong force from this city. I could argue the small matter of Gl...

This might be one for the SFAQ's but is Scotland quite unique in Western Europe for having the dominant clubs outside the nation's capital? In most other countries, at least one of the capital clubs constitute the biggest clubs in that particular country. This may be a bit to obvious, but how about...

Dumbarton 1872?
Something thats bothered me for a while is what a team can get away with doing and still be considered the same team. There's 3 examples I'm thinking of- Dumbarton-IIRC, they merged with Dumbarton Athletic in the late 1880's but carried on as if they were just Dumbarton, then they dissolved in 1901 ...

Although it'll help Motherwells pitch I'm not sure how this will help Gretna. fans that couldn't make it to Motherwell won't go to Livingston. Time for some thinking outside the box and maybe Carlisle? Or would this technically be taking the SPL abroad and impinging on the english market? I think Jo...

I suspect there would only be wry smiles from bankies if Airdrie United went bust, although even then given that their current home is not up to league standards and there not in the top teir of junior football a chance of redemption and them replacing the bankies is very remote. If (when) the SFL s...

I think I should make it clear that I'm not critising Rangers fans for going to the game on Saturday and putting money into QOTS and Dundee. After all I'm a Hearts fan. I do wish that people in general would support the local sides more, but as had been said on another thread who am I to tell them h...

It also interesting to note from America that the NHL has changed to mirror the distribution of monies and salary caps like the NFL as Detroit and a couple of other teams splitting the Stanley cup wasn't seen as good enough from a competitive point of view. The difficulty of applying that here, is h...

Re: Nice feelgood story for a Monday morning
I broached the subject of splitting gate revenue on another forum. It was received with some hostility. Clearly the days of a 50/50 split are long gone but it has to be in the long term interest of even the OF to have some share - 20, 25% perhaps - given to the away club. The lack of competition is...

Goal Line Technology
Was wondering what opinions were on Platini's banning of research into goal-line technologies, apparently as dehumanifies the game or something. He's in favour of having 2 more officals behind the goals. I find his attitdue a bit worrying, he appears to against technology of any form. Whilst I don't...

Talk about kicking a guy when he's down! And where do they get this stuff from? "Mileson's Barclays bank account at his branch in Middlesbrough is said to show the deficit of £370,000." Do his bank statements get sent to the Sunday Mail? Or have they been rummaging through his bins? Thats my main q...

Though, IIRC, the League Cup semi-final fiasco up here was also caused by numbers, an MSP being unable to read which teams belonged to which numbers (who would have thunk it?). That just summed up the scottish parliment and the SFL/SFA that draw. 4 teams in a hat and they balls it up. After that is...
