They do state 26 December 1878 – 12 March 1949 which is accurate and that he played for Liverpool, Partick Thistle and Celtic as ell as gaining ...

Tommy Sloan

Im sad to say that Tommy passed away on Wednesday night. The ex Arthurlie, Hearts and Motherwell player who won the Scottish with the Well in 1951. I never got to see him play but knew him very well and he was an absolute gentleman. If memory serves me OK I think that he was one of the last three su...

I have seen one line up that had possibly 7 or 8 Newmen in the eleven. I also have a set of personal reports from 1930 through 1950 matches which was a junior si...

Provincial Football League

I only found out about the above league by chance at the weekend then looked it up on Brian McColl's site. I have a few Arthurlie results from the start of the league but read that "With cup ties being a priority for many of its clubs, the Provincial League was destined to be a secondary affair - Mi...

From past experiance I would say junior clubs are more likely to dull down attendance figures than boost them.

Obviously games being abandonded are more regular in the junior ranks but I only recently found out that they always get to half time as once the whistle goes the clubs dont have to refund the punters where they would if the game was abandoned before half time.

I have a team picture from the 1890's which is of Middlesbrough Irono...
