Re: Old, New, Borrowed & Blue

I was told some years ago in writing by Peter Donald that the gate split for competitions under the then-SFL was 57 !/2 - 42 1/2, the disparity being intended to cover the home club's expenses of staging the game.

Re: Old, New, Borrowed & Blue

I hadn't realised that this had been switched to Livingston, presumably by ARFC to make some more money (why not Airdrie?). Did sufficient numbers turn out to make it worthwhile?

Re: The Berwick Rangers Question

Thanks Gents - apparently more widespread than I had imagined. I was just wondering if UEFA/FIFA might flex their muscles, so to speak.

The Berwick Rangers Question

Most, if not all, of us on here are old enough to have heard of Tam Dalyell's famous "West Lothian Question". This occurred to me today: Suppose that Scotland votes for, and subsequently attains, independence. What happens to Berwick Rangers? Notwithstanding the Derry City situation, is there any ot...

Re: League reconstruction, part 96...

Surely even the SPL aren't that incompetent that they have to pay a forfeit because in theory they no longer exist? Presumably also they don't have to try and cobble together a new deal at an inevitably lower rate weeks before the start of the season? Even the SP(F)L can't be that incompetent. Can ...

Re: League reconstruction, part 96...

So what happens with any current TV deals, as the bodies they were agreed with no longer exist? Fox Soccer Plus in the US is still claiming to broadcast games from the now-defunct SPL.

Highlights were shown on Scotsport (B&W film).

I'll give you Stevie Kirk, and current player Tom Pope of Port Vale for starters.

Big Eck won a trophy in England. Has European experience. And international level too. Played under Ferguson for donkey's years. Wonder why he hasn't been mentioned? (Not a serious comment before anyone replies) I am again, Sir, compelled to ask three questions I have asked of you previously: What ...

Re: East End Park - attendance records

Just to add to the discussion re distribution of gate money for cup ties, I was told in writing by Peter Donald some years ago that the split for League Cup ties was 57 1/2 % - 42 1/2 %. I believe this is still the case and is the same for Scottish Cup ties.

Ah...perhaps a bit too cryptic, Sir. Point being that the scenarios put forward here in January 2011 as regards Dundee which would "never be allowed to happen" were allowed to happen with The Rangers.
