Re: Debut hat-tricks

Graeme Eaglesham did it earlier this season for Queen's Park against Livingston in the Challenge Cup, Queen's winning 3-2 after extra time. The redoubtable Malky Mackay (Senior) went one better than this on his debut against Queen of the South on 29/09/62, scoring all four for Queen's Park in a 4-4 ...

Neil MacFarlane is another who's played in all four divisions:

Queen's Park in the Second and Third, Queen of the South and Morton in the First and Hearts/Aberdeen/Gretna in the SPL.

Another one to add to the list with Mark Roberts scoring three times from the spot for Ayr United against East Fife on Saturday.

An interesting day for him as it seems he proceeded to get involved in an altercation with an opposition player after the third and got sent off!

According to the Sun this morning, it's been done nine times in Scotland, don't have their list to hand unfortunately, but from memory they said the last time was an Albion Rovers player in 1996. However, their list omitted Stevie Reilly scoring three from the spot for Queen's Park against Elgin Cit...

Thanks for that. Turns out I didn't have him in 2008-09 either. So he now moves up to sixth with 674 (2) having made 15 (1) apps in 2008-09 and 18 in 2009-10 (some sources will count his play-off appearances as 'other' but I mark them down as league matches). Despite some gentle arm twisting by Que...

Is it not the case that the TV companies can only visit each ground a certain amount of times a season? I'm hearing the number '4'. For the Old Firm, this would cover both home OF fixtures and a couple of other home games, preferably in a tight title run-in. I've always assumed this was the case, a...

There's a problem with Joe so far as the name is concerned. Michael Joyce's records show this as James L Logan, born Barrhead, 1885 and playing for the exotically named Barread Veronese before joining QPR. I suspect this latter is wrong and that in fact he played for Queen's Park, not QPR. "The Men...

I can also recall travelling all the way to Arbroath for an Arbroath v QoS match which Willie Young decided was too windy to be played (he was right). He had both keepers out on the park to see if they could clear the penalty area with a goal kick. They couldn't so he wanted it called off. The grou...

Oldest Player

I've done a search and can't see a thread on the subject of oldest players (apologies if there is and I've missed it), but I see that Bobby Geddes has come on as a sub for Dundee tonight against Raith Rovers less than four months shy of his 50th birthday! Is he the oldest player to take the field in...

Well yes... our championship!! We beat Arbroath at the end of 2006-07 to lift the Third Division. Also remember being absolutely gutted the year we narrowly missed out on the title to Queen's Park in 1999-00 but I couldn't tell you if we played QP at the end or not, though I think we might have... ...

Rovers used to open the terracing opposite the main stand if they were expecting a big crowd, I'm sure that's what they did for the Thistle cup game mentioned above.

Just wait until he has to play an SFL team in one of the cups!

Rovers` Graham Ross was the 4th player sent off vs. Queen`s Park @ Hampden on 23rd August 1997 but he received another "red" for comments he imparted to the referee on the way off so Rovers actually collected 5 cautions that day. Rovers' goalkeeper Stevie Ross was the first to be red-carded that da...
