Re: Attendances Queries

Barry, I've checked old Rothmans books and can submit the following:- 1975-76 6312 - 10009 - 6460 1974-75 13391 - 4500 (v Partick, not Motherwell) - 22197 - 40702 1973-74 58250 1970-71 8000 1969-70 64546 - 5000 That's as far back as Rothmans books go. However, Byrne's book on the Scottish Cup confir...

Re: DENIS LAW

He pulled out of one of those Scottish Football Legends shows at the Armadillo at the beginning of the year. Rumour had it then that he wasn't too clever healthwise.

Re: "B" international in Mainz 2002

Thanks ScottishFA for reply. Marjory and I were at University and Jordanhill together in the distant past. I hadn't seen her since leaving Jordanhill in 1977 until I walked into Park Gardens one day in the early 1990s to be confronted by her behind the desk.

Re: "B" international in Mainz 2002

I was also at the game in Antalya the following February. Willie McDougall was, indeed, a big gentleman, with whom I got on well. His departure from the scene, along with Marjory in 2003, left, in my opinion, a big void which has never been filled by those who followed in their footsteps. It was a b...

"B" international in Mainz 2002

After successfully cataloguing my programme collection, I've taken on the onerous task of cataloguing the 200+ tickets which I have amassed from my travels abroad over the past 40+ years. I've put them into an album and attached a brief note of score, teams, captains, scorers and times, substitutes ...

Re: Obscure International Line-Ups.

I'm house sitting in Uist at the moment, but, when I get home, l'll check the programme from the Catalonia v Ecuador match which I attended in the Nou Camp about 12 years ago. I seem to remember a list of previous matches being in there. Incidentally, this match was played in pushing rain between Ch...

Re: 25/10/1975 line up requests

One of the beauties for me of searching for these line-ups was the fact that the edition of the Rothmans in which I got all the details was the same edition I used to win the British Mastermind title in May 1977. The National Federation of Football Supporters' Clubs was celebrating its Golden Annive...

John Cairney - A Scottish Football Hall of Fame

I got a copy of this book a few days ago, and I've been skimming through periodically since. I sat down today and realised just what an inciteful work this is. There are the obvious boobs in terms of chronology, but, in the main, a belter!

Re: Patrick Henderson

Replying to the last two topics reminded me of an article which talks about the Burgh and Junior internationals.

Unfortunately, Benny passed away about a month ago.

Re: Scotland - Northern Ireland Junior International 1968

The one picture on that page - of Jim McDonald - brings to mind the Burgh's second Scottish Cup win that year. The Burgh's opponents in the quarter-final, after the late Hughie Gilshan had got the Burgh through the previous round second replay at Adamslie with a punch into the back of the Cumbernaul...

Re: Euro 2016

Spot on! 16 teams with 4 groups of 4 or 32 teams in groups of 4 or even 20 teams with groups of 5, but please get rid of this "best placed whatever" team ethos. I remember at the World Cup in 1990 thinking that, despite defeats by Costa Rica and Brazil, that we were one of the best..... It wasn't un...
