Bell of Raith Rovers

Hello again. Can anyone help me by supplying a Christian name for Bell, who was with Raith Rovers in 1931-32, please? Many thanks, in advance.

Re: More dates of birth and death

I mentioned David Harvie on this thread earlier. I am now more confident that he was born in 1887 (as opposed to any other year) in Saltcoats. Anyone know?

Ivor Perry

Just hoping one of you clever researchers out there has the facility to look into this for me. A former Bristol Rovers player (non-Scots, I'm afraid), Ivor Leslie Perry was born in Ystrad, Wales in 1904. Someone with the same name was married in Cork in 1934. Can anyone find out for me a date of mar...

Re: Scottish Rovers

Thank you for your input into this. Yes, it looks like we have different players here. Do let me know if anything turns up and I will, of course, do likewise.

Thank you. Wrong man, then. Back to the drawing-board.

Re: Les Crump Kilmarnock 1925-27

It would make sense, then, if he is the Leslie Victor Crump born in Wolverhampton in Oct/Nov/Dec 1902, who died in Newcastle in 1983, aged eighty.

Re: Scottish Rovers

This is what I have on Alexander Crichton - it would be great if our investigations tally. The local Bristol press refers to him as a "Scottish Junior international". It is pretty much the briefest biography of any post-WW1 Bristol Rovers player at present; for many I have parents names, etc. Does a...

Re: Dates of death

Geoffrey Arthur Taylor (b 1923) died in Bundenbach, Germany on 20th July 2007, aged 84. This means the oldest former Bristol Rovers player for whom I have no date of death is Bert Winters (Herbert Richard Winters), born 14.4.20 Chipping Sodbury. As has been stated here, no one by that name appears o...

Re: Oldest Surviving Scottish Internationalists

There has always been some confusion regarding Jim Paterson with most sources suggesting he was either born in Stirling or Dunipace in 1907. There also was a rumour though that he actually had been born in Cowdenbeath. He was definitely living with his family in the Causewayhead area of Stirling wh...

Hunter of Armadale

Hoping someone can give me a Christian name, please, for Hunter, who played in 1927-28 for Armadale. Many thanks. On a similar theme, does anyone have a first name for an English League referee, Hartley, who reffed Newcastle's infamous 13-0 win against Newport County in 1946? Again, thanks in advance.

I think I'm correct in saying Neil McBain is the only player who appeared in the English/Scottish Leagues before World War One and after World War Two.
