As far as I can remember, the first televised match on a Sunday in Scotland was the 1983-84 League Cup Final. The first League game to be shown live was Hearts v Aberdeen in 1986.

Shetland Isles

I'm sure I read somewhere that the Shetlands played in this season's Scottish Cup, but I can't find them in any of the results. Was I dreaming [although I can't see why I would dream about that!!] or was it the competition that replaced the Qualifying Cup?

Was Tommy McLean not caretaker manager at Ibrox between Greig and Wallace and Alex Totten while Souness was finishing at Sampdoria?

It will take time, but I have started putting the file on to another spreadsheet by using copy and paste. I have also been making the fonts the same.

Another error would be Jackie Fearn's 22 years as manager of Dumbarton from 1962-84, but I have just changed it to a more believeable 1962 to 1964.

Duntocher Hibs stopped playing at the end of season 1979-80, presumably because of money problems. Incidentally, I think Clydebank Juniors now share Duntocher's old ground - Glenhead Park - with Drumchapel Amateurs.

Was Willie Waddell not Rangers manager when they won the ECWC in 1972? I think he handed over to Jock Wallace a few weeks after the final.

Airdrieonians still alive!!

According to the BBC website, Airdrieonians are supposed to be playing Ross County today, but it is off for some reason!! However, underneath, it says Airdrie UNITED are playing. Why haven't they just removed the first line?

It's a bit longer than 10 years, but Bobby Russell made an almost immediate impact at Ibrox after signing from Shettleston Juniors when he was 19. I can't see that happening again.

What has the size of Kirk Broadfoot's nose got to do with anything? He could go on to become an unsung hero like Alex MacDonald, John Clark [both Celtic and Dundee United players], Pat Stanton or Davie Robb. All good players, but not big names.

Neil Brown's excellent site gives all Second Division apearances, although substitute appearances are not separate and unnamed trialists are an obvious problem. Unfortunately, Rothmans has given total League and Cup appearances for 1970-71 and you have to trawl through the previous edition to get th...

Thanks for this. I was just wondering why Celtic included the Glasgow Cup in their greatest season. They would probably have won it anyway after beating Rangers so easily - all teams played their full-strength sides, so it WAS valued then.
