Vale of Clyde had a season out of the game in the early 'eighties, but came back stronger than they had been for a while.

Sky seem determined to discredit Scottish Football. The caption giving thee result from last night's semi-final said the attendance was 1,246 - they missed out a zero as it should have been a more healthy 12,046. Also, Sky have 3 sports channels, so why was the Hibs-Rangers game on so early on Sunda...

As far as I remember, Hampden was not refurbished in 1973. The match in question was a Centenary match. It was Willie Ormond's first game in charge, but with Tommy Docherty's team. Fortunately, results inproved a bit.

Another player would be Mark Brown, Celtic's current second-choice goalkeeper. Also, Gordon Marshall Junior was a signed Rangers player in 1980 and John Dowie was at Ibrox before joining Fulham and then Celtic. By the way, are Gordon Marshall and his dad unique as Gordon senior played for England Un...

According to John Litster, Eric Stevenson was born on Christmas Day 1942. As his juvenile club was Edina Hearts, I would guess his birthplace was in or around Edinburgh.

Was the new Scotland top REALLY necessary on Wednesday or was it just another opportunity to fleece the fans? There would have been no colour clash if Scotland had worn their normal blue strip or is it a new FIFA rule that all teams wear an away strip? Incidentally, is it an SPL rule that teams must...

Willie Cunningham

Does anyone have the details of Willie Cunningham's career details? The player in question is the one who played for St.Mirren, Barnsley, Third Lanark and Stirling Albion in the '50s. Did he have 2 spells at Cathkin as John Litster SEEMS to suggest this, but he has given his original signing date.

Good though they are, John Litster's disks are inconsistent in their information. For instance, there are still some players listed twice with separate totals as well as different spellings. I have found Neil Brown's website very helpful in my research. Also, as I'm sure Forrest is aware, Damiano Ag...

In League games only, he played 14 in 1951-52, 22 [1952-53], 10 [1953-54], 2 [1954-55] and 4 in 1954-55. As Dundee only played 30 games those days, I would say that he was first choice in his second season, missing 8 matches.

Bobby Henderson signed for Dundee in May 1951 and played 52 games without scoring from 1951-52 to 1955-56, then signed for United in August 1956, playing 2 League games in that season, again without scoring.

Coll [Stirling Albion] & John Connor [St.Mirren]

According to John Litster, thre was a Coll, who played 1 game for Stirling Albion in 1969-70, but there isno mention of him in the Allan Grieve book from 1988 and Neil Brown doesn't have him on his website. Also, John Litster has a John Connor listed as playing for St.Mirren in 1955-56 and again in ...

There were 27 in all. From No.23, they became paperback with the final edition being in smaller format. They tried again a few years after Hugh Taylor died, this time it was edited by Ian Archer. It was renamed The Scottish Football ANNUAL and only lasted one edition.

Now that you mention it, wasn't John Clark [ex-Dundee United] a trialist for St.Mirren a few years ago or was it Falkirk? Anyway, I would have thought the League would have the names of these players somewhere, for their own records at least and not necessarily for publication in the papers at the t...
