At half time that day, David Coleman asked Sweating Sam if he wanted to change his opinion but Sam "I`m Fighting off Anorexia Nervosa" Leitch responded,"Celtic are just lulling them into a false sense of hope."

One of my memories of the 1971 League Cup Final was switching on the radio at ten past four [they only gave commentary of the last half-hour in those days] and Roy Small [remember him?] let us hear David Francey describing the four goals one by one and saying between each one that Thistle still weren't finished. My late mother was in Parkhead shopping that day and she said folk couldn't believe it. No wonder!!

On Saturday Aberdeen's MacLean celebrated the 4th goal by removing his shirt and making a valiant attempt to reach the pie stall at the back of the stand. A straightforward booking you would think although it's not shown on the screen.

Shortly afterwards he kicks the ball away and as the ref has already booked 2 Celtic players for the same offence it looks like he is off.

Inexplicably, the ref doesn't book MacLean and you have to assume he has disregarded the rule book as there was only seconds of the game left.

However, on checking match reports from various media outlets and even Aberdeen's official website there is no booking shown for MacLean. This must be wrong.

Later it transpires that Setanta (outwith UK TV coverage) had on screen that MacLean was booked for a Pub League challenge on McGeady in the 54th minute but again this was not mentioned in various media match reports.

Putting aside the obvious lack of consistency in Refs applying the rules yet again, how hard can it be for the media to note down correctly who was booked when and for what reason.

Come back Darryl!

The Herald today devotes three pages to the Scotland squad announcement, but misses just one thing. The Scotland squad.
