Am I wrong, or the departure of Foulkes / Anderton made things more difficult to Romanov...

What a managerial record:
Team From To Games Won Lost Drawn
Oxford 22-03-2004 14-11-2004 29 6 15 8
Portsmouth 25-02-2001 25-03-2002 56 16 23 17
Chelsea 13-09-2000 17-09-2000 1 1 0 0
SO at Oxford and Pompey he played 85 games, winning 22, losing 38, and drawing 25.
Magic. Bring it on!!!!
Sleepwalking to oblivion....

It's the Hope I can't stand
100% at Chelsea. That's better than Mourinho
If this is right then it's the most bizarre appointment since Caligula's horse. Oxford were in 4th place when he took over, slumped to 9th by the end of the season winning just the one game. They were 21st when he left.
Portsmouth were almost as bad - 17th when he took over, 20th by the end of the season and 17th again when he left.
The Chelsea game was a sloppy 1-0 win over St Gallen in the UEFA Cup (Chelsea lost the second leg and were eliminated)
Maybe the thinking is if they can't get Ranieri they'll get the guy who was at Chelsea before him
Perhaps the only thing to be said in his favour is that he's used to working for egotistical chairmen. Mandaric at Portsmouth is prone to interfering, Kassam at Oxford named the new ground after himself and Ken Bates was the chairman while he was at Chelsea.
OK, I'm pre-judging the guy but there's absolutely nothing in his CV to suggest he can build on Burley's work at Hearts

Except with Romanov's niece perhaps - allegedly

Ach, except she's a bit geriatric I suppose...

It's confirmed - Rix is the new first team coach at Tynecastle:

Of course, he might do a good job
but for the moment this is a PR disaster for Hearts.

It would be very interesting to see Romanov & Romanov's list of criteria for this freshly filled post. Just how did Graham Rix manage to "Tick all the boxes"?
I've said this a few times before, but I would still be very worried if I were a Hearts fan. Forget the short-term and ask where the club is going long-term. Celtic will win the title this season leaving the ruling dynasty little option but to fill the entire team with Eastern European imports next term. Is that really what Heart of Midlothian, or indeed any Scottish footballing institution, is all about? Please tell me there are at least some supporters down Tynecastle way that are not being completely brainwashed with this most tragic of takeovers.
IMHO the sale of the ground followed by a move to Murrayfield would have been the sensible thing to do. But when did common-sense play any part in Scottish football?

Now that Rix is in @ Tynecastle, we can turn our gaze on Estadio Ibrox. Best man to replace McLeish ? Why, step forward Maurice Johnston ! He ticks ALL the boxes - star ex player, successuful coach etc. I understand he can`t wait to swop the dreary weather Stateside & the bigotted, fishbowl pressure for the quiet serenity of sun kissed Glasgow.
Now that Hearts have played as many SPL games under Rix (14) as they had when he arrived, it’s maybe time for a comparison
Hearts under Burley/ McGlynn
11 2 1 30 9 35
Under Rix/Duffy
6 4 4 27 15 22
Only fair to look at the other leading sides. First set of stats is first 14 games then next 14.
Celtic
11 2 1 38 12 35
11 2 1 39 16 35
Rangers
6 5 3 23 13 23
8 2 4 25 19 26
Hibs
10 1 3 26 14 31
5 2 7 25 23 17
Killie
5 4 5 25 24 19
8 4 2 28 19 28
Conclusions?
Celtic – phenomenally consistent
Hearts – fallen away badly and lucky nearest challengers have fared poorly
Rangers - not quite as mingin’ as earlier in the season
Hibs – wtf has happened here. That’s bottom six form.
Killie – Kris Who?
