Fergie's Fiftieth Trophy

Post by Scottish » Sat May 11, 2013 5:28 pm

Lots of stuff in the media this week about Alex Ferguson gaining 49 trophies as a manager. Included in this are all the Charity/Community Shields & the Scottish 1st Division whilst with St Mirren. if all those are counted then surely it's only right to add the Drybrough Cup of 1979-80 to make it a nice round 50?

Was thinking exactly that myself earlier in the week.

He also has some Renfrewshire Cups to his name played as first-team competitions, but even if one wants to restrict it to National and International honours, there's little reason to exclude the Drybrough.

It's not even a peculiarly Scottish concept, given the Watney Cup.
