One of the 'greats'. Remember him getting lumps kicked out of in the 'World Club Championship'.

In 10 years as a Scotland player he played only 23 times out of a possible 78 games. Like many 'maverick' players his skills were often deemed 'too fragile'.

Possibly his best game for Scotland came in the 3-2 defeat in Germany in the World Cup qualifier.

He opened the scoring in the 3rd minute.

Best game I ever saw him have was v England at Hampden in 74 just before the Germany WC finals (and so just before his wee boat trip!). Very wet day and Jinky had the English defence sliding all over the place as he ran riot. Think we won 2-0 with both goals OGs. Fantastic atmosphere - seem to remember that Emlyn Hughes had been asked whether the Hampden Roar would worry him and he said he played at Anfield every other week and he could cope with noise. Everyone must have seen the interview as the noise that day was phenomenal!
