Junior upsets

The blessed "Scottish" has been quiet since he handed over the moderator's position on here, but, I trust he was able to raise a glass or two last night, as Troon beat the Buffs on penalties to reach the Ardagh Glass League Cup final - where they will be underdogs against Hurlford, who thrashed Maybole 5-1 in the other semi.

Maybole are probably still in shock after beating Talbot AT BEECHWOOD PARK, in the quarter-finals. The record books are being checked to try to find-out when last, if ever, Maybole won at Auchinleck.

In the "Central League's" equivalent competition, the Euroscot Engineering Sectional League Cup, both semis went to penalties, before Petershill beat Rob Roy and Vale of Clyde saw off Wishaw.

The presence of Troon, regardless of their current status as a Superleague Premier Division club and Vale of Clyde, from the West Superleague's third tier, in the finals is to be welcomed.
