The Hearts Museum will be open in November and if you want, you can combine the visit with a visit to the museum as well.

The museum is in the old club shop in Tynecastle. It is about 20 minutes on a number 2 bus from the Grassmarket. Hearts aren't at home on either of the November dates so you can visit it after visiting the NLS.

Thanks for posting the update regarding the hearts museum Davy. It would be a worthwhile addition to the NLS visit. We might need some directions from you on the day!

Sounds like a good day if it comes off, alas it corresponds with my wedding anniversary and the wife expects a week away with me for some reason!

Opening Hours on a non match day Saturday are 12-4. I'm going to be working in the Museum, so I'll arrange to have some objects in the collection that aren't on display so you can see some ones that are of more interest to Historians.

I'll do a separate thread on the Museum once it is open with opening hours etc.

Thanks for the update on the museum Davy. Looking forward to coming through to have a look. I am going to email Ian Scott regarding the NLS visit today. The Saturday morning of 19th November is free for me. Hope that's ok with most of you.

Hi guys,

Just to confirm that Ian Scott has booked us in for the NLS visit on Saturday morning 19th November. The room is booked between 9am and 1pm. Hoping that some of you will be able to make it along. A visit to the Hearts museum is also possible if you don't need to rush away to a game. If you want to come along can you please post here? I will need to send a list of names to Ian next month.

Alan

Count me in for that one mate ! I guess an earlier train from Ayr would be in order ?

P.S. If anyone has old football history or statistical books cluttering up the house I'd be happy to give them a new home !

I'm going to be on holiday in London unfortunately.

However the Hearts Museum will be open from 10 to 4 that day.

You can either get there by bus

No 2 from the Grassmarket, cross the road from NLS, go down Victoria Street. Run every 15 mins. £1.60 single.

Or probably easier if there are a few of you a Taxi.

Alan, I'm good to go on the 19th November if it's still on. Pre-match duties mean I'll need to head to Broadwood afterwards. Cheers Syd

It's still on Syd. If there is anything in particular that you want Iain to bring out on the day then please post so I can give him plenty of notice. Personally, if I can fill in a few gaps in my Third Lanark research then it will be a successful trip.

There are four of us going so far: Myself, Shawfield Boy, Boris57 and Essex Corcaigh. If anyone else wants to come along please post here. I am aiming to send the list of atendees to Iain on 31st October so he can get id's etc. organized. Cheers.

Alan, I'm very probably with you in that 95% of my missing Clyde info is from those pre-league Scottish Cup games, so if there's any other potential sources out there I'm happy to plough through them. Also, the last time we were through Ian was chasing the postcard of Clyde v St Mirren in 1894 - I'm interested in seeing the back of the card. Regards Syd

Alan - can you please add me to the list for the NLS visit on 19 November. I am not sure if I can join you for the visit to Tynecastle as I have to be away in the afternoon but I will certainly try if the timings work out.

No bother Douglas. If there is anything in particular you want to look at on the day (newspapers or books) then let me know and I will pass it on to Ian.
