Does anyone have info on William McInnes? He started off at Beith in 1921 then to Kilbirnie before Arthurlie, Luton then back to Beith till the early 30's. I have his Arthurlie details just looking for anything anyone can add for an article for this weeks Arthurlie programme.

Thanks as ever.

Gleaned from various sources and so thank you to them!

William Anderson McInnes

Born 1902 Died 1959

He started at Beith. Indeed there was a "W McInnes (Beith)" who got a month's playing suspension in August 1920. He joined Beith Juniors in 1921/22. He moved to Kilbirnie Ladeside for the 1923/24 season. He signed for Arthurlie on 9 October 1926. After three seasons there he moved to England. He was signed by Luton Town who at that time were managed by the former St Mirren, Hearts and Portsmouth manager, John McCartney. Sadly, McCartney had health problems and was forced to leave the club in December 1929.

McInnes played 22 matches (1 goal) at outside left in Division Three (South) for Luton Town in the 1929/30 season. He made his debut on 2 September 1929 in a 1:1 home draw with Norwich City. He scored his only goal in a 4:2 home win against Newport County on 19 October 1929. His last game was on 26 April 1930 in a 1:1 home draw with Coventry City. Luton Town finished in 13th place that season. He returned to Scotland and played for Beith in the 1930/31 and 1931/32 seasons.
