Guest English players in Scottish clubs during WW2

Could you tell us something about the most famous English football players that joined Scottish clubs while being in the Army during WW2? Could you name the best known players and the Scottish clubs they played for? Thank you a lot. Cheers.

Best known was Stanley Matthews who turned out for Morton, Rangers and - purportedly - Stenhousemuir! A number of well-known Scots who had never played Scottish League football also turned out as guest players, notably Bill Shankly for Partick Thistle and Matt Busby for Hibs. Additionally quite a few Polish players not only appeared during wartime but stayed on after the end of the war like Alfie Lesz & Felix Staroscik

Matthews also turned out for Airdrie in their Scottish War Cup SF replay vs Dundee Utd in April 1940 according to the Images of Sport book on Airdrie.
