I.D this Partick Thistle picture from the 50's.

Can anybody help me identify the date & venue of this picture. In the Thistle 6 a side are Ledgerwood & Willie Sharp.

I think it's the 1950's but could be late 1940's ?

Or can someone I.D the non-Thistle player of the far side or his club badge ?

I think the player on the extreme right is QOS goalkeeper Roy Henderson.

Do you think it could be the Main Stand at Palmerston Park ?

I had only considered central belt clubs before.

It does look like Roy Henderson from pictures I've seen of him but I can't be certain and it certainly doesn't look anything like any badge of ours that I've seen.

I'm almost certain that isn't Palmerston Park though. The present Main Stand was built in the 60's after the previous one burned down but I'm fairly sure it was a good bit smaller than the one pictured, that we've never had a multi stepped terrace in front of the stand as the one pictured clearly does and that it wouldn't have gone so deep below pitch level as that one clearly does with the people in the front row having their elbows at pitch level.

That background of the wood panels and lights looks very like the old South Stand at Hampden.

I agree - I am fairly certain that is the tunnel at Hampden.

Did the QPFC annual sports continue after the war? Or would it be some other event, eg the coronation?

The Coronation Day 6-a-Side at Hampden was played on the 2nd June 1953.

Thistle beat Ashfield in the first round, and beat Celtic in the SF and Third Lanark in the final. All games the Jags won 2-0.

The attendance was given as 10,000.

I checked the Evening Times, Evening Citizen, Glasgow Herald and the Daily Record.

The Thistle team included goal scorers Jack Henderson, Willie Sharp & Alec Wright.

The previous month Thistle won the Bellahouston Park 5 a side's at Ibrox, beating Rangers 2-0 in the 1st Rd and Celtic by the same score in the final with both goals coming from Bobby Howitt. The Jags also had Jimmy McGowan (a back) in Goals.
